This season is looking like a train wreck for the tide. Do you think Deboer gets a 3rd season to win after Saban left the program in such great shape? If not, who's going to replace him?

Would Saban come out of retirement?

He'll get at least three years.

Why is it looking like a train wreck?

The NIL/portal culture was probably as much responsible for Bamas issues last year as Deboer was but the bucks stops with him. He's been at Bama one season and it contains 3 of the ugliest losses in Bamas history. Missing the playoffs again would seal his early fate imo.

If history only started in 2008.

This is what a train wreck looks like:

2020 - 6-5

2021 - 6-7

2022 - 5-7

2023 - 6-7

2024 - 5-7

The barners are single-handedly refining the real meaning of the "Roaring Twenties."

Auburn fans worried about Alabama when they have a dumpster fire raging on their back porch.

Nobody is alive who saw Ears teams going 1-11 in the 50s and stuff.

And while Dubose and Shula lost games like crazy, they almost always had the inferior team.

Deboer collected 3 baffling losses against teams we were 14+ points favorites over. Losing a game as a 14+ point favorite should be the type of thing that happens once a decade or so.

It will continue to be a downward spiral.

Once any big blue chip coach sees that Deboar was not able to make it, they’re going to be like Texas and start having to settle for their fourth or fifth option

Imagine losing 42-13 to that then. At home. At night.

Yeah well you also lost to multiple teams that we beat. That’s how a normal football season works unless Nick Saban is your coach.

ETA: I come back hours later and see so many downvotes because you’re jealous that you didn’t think of this first. This was a great post by me.

"BAMA don't lose in Baton Rouge." Before, during, and after the Nick Saban era. Look it up.

We weren’t as talented in 2024 as a bunch of our fans who think those silly star ratings from recruiting geeks looking for you to click on their monetized links were actually carved into stone tablets by a supernatural finger on Mount Sinai think. It may have been Saban’s best coaching job ever to do what he did with them in 2023.

In answer to the silly OP, DeBoer is going to be around for a while because we’re about to have a killer season, while the Barn continues to wallow around in its innate irrelevance and inferiority.

Years ago a college football analyst on Finebaum from outside the SEC, I think he was from up north, made the comment that no one outside Lee County, Alabama, should have any realistic expectation of the Barn being a consistent national championship contender and that their top end is a .750 winning percentage, a decent bowl and maybe breaking through a little higher once every generation or so. That sounded about right to me.

And Bama doesn’t* educate their students on how to speak eloquent English. Before, during, and after they started taking a bunch of out of state students in hopes of improving their academic standard, which apparently has occurred to no avail. Look it up.

How funny would this be? Bama hire a head coach who vehemently doesn't believe in NIL...

Would be fun to watch.
