I feel like the addition of Oklahoma and Texas can very well keep any program in the SEC that's currently struggling down for even longer.

In short, there just isn't enough room to have too many winners. The Florida dumpster fire has been a thing of beauty to watch.

I hope Florida keeps billy forever and settles on becoming a baseball and basketball school only.

I imagine Deion Sanders would instantly bring in whoever hires him in top 5 recruiting classes yet they are scared to fire their gem of a coach to try lmfao.

I guess Florida fans are just content on losing now.

You conveniently forgot to mention Tennessee being among those who might not be coming back to prominence anytime soon.

Weird thread.

Auburn and Florida (also Tennessee) do not belong in the same sentence with programs like Texas A@M and Mississippi State.

The former have won championships.

The latter have not.

I don’t know what the frick Florida is doing.

Made some terrible hires that just has the ship buried currently.

I still can’t believe they hired Billy Napier. On top of that is the schedule they have this year and it’s gonna be another brutal year for blue and orange.

Why?

Because they have money?
Because they can recruit?
Because they can pay players?

Newsflash this already happens and they lose to Kansas and Maryland.

Texas problem is that their students and alumns are like Hollywood fans. They only watch games for the social aspects of gathering. They will leave and not show up when their teams lose or have a mediocre season.

So if they get to stack the deck in their own conference yeah. They can make hay. But that’s over.

They are gonna lose to Georgia, Florida and Michigan before they even see A&M next season. And once they can’t pump up their egos anymore it’s over.

They aren’t gonna like the reality of the SEC grind.

Maybe, but one thing is for sure, we got no problem beating Tennessee no matter which dumbass is coaching our team.

And yet, Florida upsets No. 11 Tennessee 29-16 for the Gators' 10th straight victory at home in the series

A&M may be back in prominence soon. No games vs Alabama, Georgia, or Ole Miss in the next two seasons.

you've already proven you're a d.a. but even moreso if you think UF will be down for long. This is Napier's last season if he doesn't turn it around. UF will eventually get the right coach and it won't take 20 years like it did the viles because UF is a much more attractive job than the UT.

You really think that hiring Deon in the SEC is the best option?

I think the entire Deon, coach prime BS will flame outbid under 5 years, without ever producing anything of note. But, by all means, I'd love to watch him run an SEC program into the ground.

A lot of teams will find themselves increasingly below where they have traditionally lived in the college football pecking order. Others will let their football teams dwindle.

NIL and the portal will completely reduce the sport to the biggest booster bank accounts. I guess if that's still something to hang your hat on, watch away. In a couple of decades, college football will be a shadow of what we're used to.

Not sure about this post.

Say this much, not a SINGLE team in the SEC is prominent at this point other than GEORGIA BULLDOGs! Period, the end.

I would have placed Bama as a close 2nd but that program is hitting the reset button with an entire new staff so they have to prove it.

Outside of that, yes schools like Auburn, LSU, Florida and Tenn can claim prominence by looking long into the past. Like a very LONG extension into the past including the newbies, OU and Texas. LSU is the only team in recent years that has any room to talk about prominence out of this 2nd tier group.

But again, that is people focused on the glory days when in reality all these programs, other than GA, are all fighting for prominence. So that is the reality of the world in present times.

And frankly, I personally dont live in the past or dwell in the past. If we are all being honest, we all know this is all that matters. What? Trying to become one of the top prominent SEC schools to make the playoffs in the 2024-2025 season.

So sorry but any school in the SEC this season can fall from prominence or regain it or even begin to built that legacy. So frick you all as little common sense....

Hey Whiskey.... to be talking smack against a team (UF) that has owned your team for some time now is a dumb move, even for a Tenny fan.

Winning a division 18 years ago makes Tennessee relevant? Interesting.

Auburn is in a deeper hole than they have ever been in during the modern era. It's very unfortunate that it happened right as we can finally do what our rivals have been doing for decades without fear of the NCAA. However, if we keep recruiting like we are, we will be back to competing for the SEC. 3-4 more years.

The others are in very bad situations. Florida's admin seems like a disaster. Miss St is Miss St. Programs of their size will struggle in the new world of CFB. Texas AM has no excuse with their bankroll but they've struggled to turn that into success in the past, so who knows with them.
