Ready to move on from McEntire. Tired of playing Russian Roulette with that dude's appearances.

He’s back where he was last year when he had to be pulled from the rotation because was pitching batting practice.

DVH’s stubbornness with Diggs, Wilmsmeyer, Rowland, McEntire, and Wood will be our undoing this year.

Gaek is still in the pen and Dave rolls out Mac.

That’s 2 days in a row where we had manageable deficits and instead of going to Gaeckle we went to Wood and McEntire who are both crapshoots, both of whom proceeded to let it get away.

The cleanup duty went badly, but I Iiked Wood's outing overall yesterday. I trust him over Mac at this point.

Wood can eat up shite innings because he's a midweek BS pitcher. Hopefully the the kid from Batesvegas bails as well.

Not sure that's what I'd say about a guy that just threw 3 scoreless innings against one of the best offenses in the conference.

Yeah, a little raw emotions coming in hot there.

We need a change in hitting coach (won't happen)... Sure is a dang shame that things won't click for us in pitching and hitting in the same season.

We have a great HC (Just a tad stubborn) a great staff (Overall) Great Players, (Take 3 away, lol) and an incredible facilities. In a absolute incredible baseball conference.

I wouldn’t feel half bad about this team if we could just get Aloy, Sprague-Lott, Diggs, White, Wilmsmeyer, Lovich, Edmunson, Wagner, and Souza to get out of their slumps.

It’s pretty obvious they were trying to get the ball to Gaeckle with a lead (like we almost always do) but kept falling behind. At some point, our staff is going to have to be more than Hagen + Gaeckle.

That looks like more than just a slump.

I mean, what is the staff assessment by guy right now?

Hagen - elite
Tygart - mixed bag?
Molina - mixed bag?
Wood - mostly good?
Gaeckle - very good
Faherty - okay but control issues
Mac - trending down
Hewlett - good vs lefties
Foutch - usually good, control issues from time to time
Frank - trending way down
Fisher/Bybee/Dossett - ??
Carter/Coil - bad sign if they are pitching

If we had a top half of the SEC offense, this would be serviceable. But because we have one of the worst offenses in the SEC, we have no margin for error. In an ideal scenario, how would you get 27 innings out of this staff, assuming all 3 games are close?

Why are we talking about this pitching staff like they haven't dominated the best conference in baseball for the last two months?

Kentucky is one of the best offensive teams in college baseball. We won’t see a team like that in the regionals or supers. Our pitching is fine. And we should score enough at home to get to Omaha.

Once there it’s a crapshoot. We’ll have to get lucky to win it all but I’d say that about every team.

I would save HS for game 2 of the regionals. Tygart or MM would carve up a 4 seed.

We also used just as many midweek guys as regular bullpen rotation guys due to how the games played out. It's not like we were trotting out our frontline guys all weekend, and when we did, they were effective.

Carter closed game 1 after McEntire pitched 2 scoreless innings.

Wood pitched 4.1 innings of game 2 only giving up 3 hits with Frank closing it out.

Today was the only day you could say we used a normal rotation and the only guy they hit out of the pen was McEntire. Foutch and Gaeckle combined to give up only 3 hits and no earned runs.

Some massive overreactions going on about the pitching. Tygart and McEntire are really the only pitchers that warrant any kind of worry right now as far as guys that will absolutely be needed down the stretch, and McEntire is expendable pending one of the other bullpen guys stepping up to take his spot.

We’ve had a good run, no doubt. But we also have a couple of guys who are trending in the wrong direction lately. We also haven’t played A&M yet and we avoided Tenn and Georgia on the schedule this year. So that has helped.

But I’m not even mostly down on the staff. The hard part is success for me will always be defined as “can we win a title or not?” This staff is very good. Is it “win a national title while carrying an anemic offense” good? I don’t know. But that’s what I’m asking..

I guess the line between “midweek guys” and “front line guys” is a lot more well defined for you all than it is for me?

The offense has to start hitting more. There's just no getting around that, otherwise it's just a repeat of 2012. Beat Kent State in game 1 of Omaha 8-1 then scores of 2-1 in a win against SCar, then back to back losses at 0-2 and 2-3.

I don't think this is a title year, but it's not gonna be on this staff.
