Former NFL and LSU QB Jamarcus Russell is no longer part of the football staff at Williamson High School. Although the exact reason for his departure hasn't been confirmed, it's pretty clear it stems from a lawsuit he's facing. According to court documents, Russell cashed a $74,000 check that was apparently a donation to the football program at Williamson. The check came from Chris Knowles.
quote:

Knowles, a lifelong LSU fan, says Russell approached him in the summer of 2022 about making a donation to help Williamson football purchase weight-room equipment. After writing the $74,000 check out to Russell, Knowles said he later stopped payment on the check when Russell wouldn’t provide a receipt of the donation and quit returning his phone calls.

"JaMarcus Russell was relieved of his volunteer coaching duties at Williamson High School during the fall of last year," the school told WKRG Sports.

The only guy with a lower IQ than Jamarcus is the guy that wrote him a $74k check.

EVEN half a braincell I should've said.

I had a friend whose son was on the team when JaMarcus was the quarterback, and the kid said JaMarcus is one of the nicest people he’s ever met. He’s also one of the dumbest.

It was 32,000,000 guaranteed. So, he made at least that.

Cecil Collins might be replaced....

Cecil Collins got his life together! He didn't just continue on a downward spiral. He figured it out. Russell, apparently, has yet to do so.

This is my shocked face. It seems way out of character for a wise man like him.

I hope there isn't one photo or mention of this guy at LSU. He needs to be erased from the schools history.

So odd. He has to still have money. Doesn’t he?

Estimated networth is $4 million which takes into account everything he owns. I'd say he's burned through most of what he had earned. Still well off by average Joe standards.

He was very good at LSU but horrible in the pros.

It's funny we think he was good then we actually saw what a good QB in Burrow and Daniels looked like and he seems slightly above average when compared to those two. His biggest asset was his measureables
user avatar

Burrow and Daniels are all time greats at the position. They’re not just good. Jamarcus put up 3129 yds, 28/8, 67.8% in 2006 and was 1st team all SEC. That’s not “slightly above average” by any reasonable standard even if he is a lowlife.

Well LSU did mismange funds meant for children so it seems he was taught well at the University

Not defending JaMarcus by no means. But who writes a check out to an individual and then expect to take a charitable deduction ? For 74,000 - Really ? There are well defined rules set forth in the tax law on how this is done. And their pretty simple.

Read IRS publication 526. This would absolutely qualify as an allowable contribution for the victim if Russell had followed through with what he said he was going to do done. As long as the school provided this individual with a receipt or letter with the amount and date of the contribution, it would be considered basically a cash contribution. Handing a check basically written to cash, It would be like handing a wad of bills to an agent of a charity. That is allowed.
