Why is this all being brought up like 14 years after the movie came out? I mean its not like the movie came out yesterday.
Did Michael burn through all his NFL money or something?

This Oher scum tried extortion first...

Oher should just make his own movie.
If the scummy details are even close to what we are all picturing, it should be a blockbuster.

That's not extortion. If they made a deal in his name and didn't pay him they stole from him. They're claiming they got paid a flat fee and never saw any more than that (and they might be telling the truth on that bc of the way film accounting works) but either way he should've had money set aside for him and distributed to him.

Interesting questions that need answering:
1. Did the Thouys still have a conservatorship on Oher when the book came out? What was Oher paid out of that?
2. Did the Touhys still have a converatorship on Oher when the movie came out? What was Oher paid out of that?
3.Did the Touhys still have a conservatorship on Oher when he signed to play professional football? What percentage, if any, of his professional football salary did the Thouys collect for the conservatorship?
4. Why is (was?) such a conservatorship still in effect?
Why to questions 1,2 & 3?
What percentage of the earnings, if anything, was Oher ever paid by the Touhys?

I don't know if he can get to a jury trial with a civil case, but if he does then he would probably get more than $15M.
The attorney representing Oher also represented the Tuohys.

"Give me $15 million or I will sue you and drag you through the mud."
He was grown arse man when that movie was made.

No it's not. Being mad at it won't change the law.

Don’t claim to know anything about this except read an article where a reporter or dj interviewed Mr. Touhy and he stated that he, the wife and family members were paid $225k a piece for the rights to the story, movie etc.

If they actually gave a shite about him they would’ve given him 100% of anything they made off the movie or book sales before any rift started. It was never about helping a kid out.

Michael Oher accused of $15M Shakedown
quote:
Michael Oher, the ex-NFL star whose story inspired the Oscar-winning film “The Blind Side,” allegedly asked his adoptive family for $15 million not to go public with claims they swindled him, according to the family’s attorney.
quote:
“Over the years, the Tuohys have given Mr. Oher an equal cut of every penny received from ‘The Blind Side,’” attorney Marty Singer said.
“Even recently, when Mr. Oher started to threaten them about what he would do unless they paid him an eight-figure windfall, and, as part of that shakedown effort refused to cash the small profit checks from the Tuohys, they still deposited Mr. Oher’s equal share into a trust account they set up for his son.”
quote:
Singer alleged Oher had been dropped as a client by other lawyers, but “has finally found a willing enabler and filed this ludicrous lawsuit as a cynical attempt to drum up attention in the middle of his latest book tour.”

I don’t think it was money they gained. Touhy daughter is richer than any of them by being married to Fred Smiths son. She along with her mom got a lot of fame and gained a lot by the movie. They didn’t need the money.
Fred Smiths daughter is the one that helped get this movie done.
It was no secret in the Briarcrest circle he wanted to go to TN or Memphis. He didn’t care about OM at all until they had him a new ride waiting outside.
They also didn’t take him in until they saw the football player he was. He also stayed with numerous families and not just them. He is the same age as me. I was at MUS when he was at Briarcrest

People did that all the time. Saban had a Michigan State alumnus pay a kid from my hometown in Florida and the kid went to Michigan state and was being recruited by the big 3 in Florida.

People fake adopt a kid all the time to get him to go to their school they graduated from? I know people get paid all the time but fake adopting a kid and only getting him a new ride if he goes to their school isn’t something that happened much

Seems a bad take given the circumstances.
The trial will reveal it, unless they settle.
Honestly, it seems like sour grapes and desperation. I find it hard to believe he did not know about his adoption status until this year.
Genuinely, it seems sad all around. But, if anything, it just proves they're really family afterall. Money matters can bring out the petty in every family group.
If Bullock gives up her Oscar, she's dead to me (as if she cares). But, it's too bad because her, Alyssa Milano, Kate Beckinsale, and Marisa Tomei have always been my starlet love interests since childhood/youth.

P.S.: I may have a girl next door brunette type

He said, they said at this point. This is the kind of case where it will all come to light in the end so I'll reserve judgment until then.

That’s the interesting thing.
It was in effect, so technically Michael was unable to agree to the NFL contracts without the Tuohys’ consent but there’s no mention of that anywhere. It almost seems like everyone forgot it existed. I wonder if that would render his prior NFL or any other contracts null and void? Could be quite a Pandora’s Box there.
