Just give the student athletes permanent tenure at the schools. Might limit the amount of transfers if they have a vested interest in the university. On the job training for fixing toilets, carpentry work, electrical inspections. The schools can save a shitload on maintenance and train the guys who don’t really like academics but need to learn a real life skill.

That would really suck for a lot of kids coming out of high school hoping to get scholarships in the non-revenue sports.

I'm sure A&M players will enjoy that extra year of getting dick in the butt and playing grabass with the male cheerleaders.

The interesting point in all this:

What kept a player from returning to college to play after a pro career was “I’ve been paid and can’t”. Now that that excuse is dead, why couldn’t every player who left early return and finish up eligibility.

TAMU need a QB? Manzeil is available for the right amount.

That’s fine
But teams don’t have to pay you for five years if you not good enough

When normal students graduate after four they get a job

Athletes, after four, should get a job if not good enough for pros
Injury is only reason for extra years

The current rule is you have 4 years of eligibility and 5 years to use it. It’s not a you can play 3 years and then go do xyz for 5 more years and come back and still have another year of eligibility. Obviously covid and waivers were/are a thing but generally there is a 5 year clock from when you start college athletics.

Just go JUCO 2 years, then 5 years at University. SOB will be older than BYU’s team.

I feel like the pendulum has swung about as far as it can possibly go in one direction, and at this point the only question is when it comes crashing back.

The players probably don't realize it, but we're only a couple of "considerations" away from coaches having the ability to fire a poor-performing player on the spot, invalidating their NIL agreement, and then bringing in someone else immediately. The pro leagues do it every week.

Opened-ended eligibility, incentives, and transfers work both ways.

I wanna see great college players who washout in the NFL allowed to return.

We're just one lawsuit away.

Bryce Young you can have your old number and locker back and everything.

Here's what they need to be working on: one transfer window (in spring) and limit of one transfer during the eligibility period (except for graduates - if you earn a degree, you've earned the chance to transfer).

Do they even still have the rule about certain percentage of athletes graduating or progressing toward degree?

This game is about to start belly-dumping fans.

And then all this money wrangling was for naught.
