I find it interesting that of the 8 teams that made it to Omaha last year, not a single one of them even made it back to Supers this year.

I wish there was more west coast representation. But three teams works all right.

4 missed the field entirely
CC went 2-n-Q
UCLA went 1-2 including 0-2 vs the 4 seed who didn't win another game
Y'all & Oregon State were the best of the batch went 2-2 and at least made the regional final but neither played today

Right now I don’t see anyone beating State. Auburn is almost as unbeatable at home. Deep pitching, hitting and fielding. Not sure we have much of a chance. But we are playing with house money so who knows?

Ummmm. You forget that we are playing our kryptonite. We are zero-four, 0-4, naught and four, Oh for against Georgia this year.

Rally disappointed after a great weekend of baseball to wake up to a clip of Butch Thompson complaining about the regional format. Saying it’s not good for the players and how it’s too taxing on pitchers. Just total ridiculous shite from him.
Either win three games in a row or use more pitchers. Dude had guys dressed and rostered this weekend that he never went to and he is going to whine about “having” to bring back guys on short rest to pitch twice.
Mind you I generally have a lot of respect for him and think he’s one of the best, but regional weekend is probably the best overall weekend of college baseball all year. Don’t frick with it.

Then he must hate the CWS ... where you play another regional and then immediately play a super-regional.

That is why it is important to develop pitching depth during the season. You have 26 OOC games along with 30 conference games to do so. It is imperative to give those young pitchers and others opportunities to pitch so that when the regionals come about, you are prepared if you lose an early game.
Yes, sometimes you win three straight but it is never an automatic situation.
It is hard to believe Coach Thompson actually complained about that.
Had they won three straight, I suspect it would have been crickets.

What is the date and time for the Ole Miss vs AU Super Regional?

Had the final out in the A&M game come up on my feed. Am I crazy or is it a little cringey that a program (a 2 seed) with 12 national titles dogpiled winning a sub regional round? I get they haven’t been to the supers in a bit, but seems a little much. I get it for a program like Little Rock but USC? Or maybe I’m just a curmudgeon

Back to back late ones in Austin, ouch
Troy got the best timeslot combo for first two games imo, that sucks

Normally I'd agree with a regional winning dogpiling from that program is an odd look. But USC baseball was down bad. Prior to their regional last year they had only earned two bids the last two decades. Returning to the Supers for the first time since '05 feels like a breakthrough.

College baseball is better when USC is good.

I don't know about USC specifically but college baseball does need the west coast to step back up. Fullerton, Pepperdine, etc haven't done anything in years and they used to be staples in the postseason and Omaha. Fullerton hasn't made a super or Omaha in almost 10 years. Pepperdine hasn't made the NCAAT in over 10 years. UC Irvine hasn't won a regional in over 10 years. Fresno St hasn't won a regional in almost 20 years. Cal hasn't won a regional in 15 years. Stanford looked like they were turning a corner to get back to an elite program (went to Omaha 2021-2023) but have now missed the NCAAT the last 3 years. It's like everyone but UCLA stopped trying.
