Good trade.

I saw a bumper sticker like that:

Said : I GOT A GUN FOR MY WIFE.
Good trade.

Balled out and then went 'meh' after a coaching change. He was great with his first App St. HC.

Worst case is he immediately adds depth.

That he took 0 snaps for UCLA is a pretty big red flag

Really? He transferred there in the off season. Never had the chance to take a snap.

I have not seen much of him and I am not a coach or scout, but looking at some stuff online, he’s got some size, he’s not got a stupendous arm but he has an accurate arm, he gets up and gets back to business when he’s knocked on his arse and he’s a better runner than Nico. His numbers were not against SEC competition but he seems to have some skills, maybe Heupel can polish them up a bit, he’s supposedly this offensive genius.

Well, UCLA obviously thought Nico was better.

Aguilar had horrible numbers last year. 14 picks in the Sun Belt. Ouch

Wish some very wealthy UTk booster would give him $4 million just for laughs.

UCLA? Whatta they know? Probably not much. Aguilar had a much better 2023 season.under a different coach.

I think the plan is to get him for nothing and invest the extra in WRs. But yeah, I wouldn't mind dropping a stupid amount on him just to prove a point.

You’re conveniently leaving out the 23 touchdowns. He absolutely wasn’t as good in 2024 as he was in 2023, but I just read a CBS analysis piece that said Tennessee’s “reliance on strict route concepts and the underneath game … inherently cuts down on quarterback mistakes” and pointed out that no Tennessee QB has ever had more than 5 picks under Heupel. The piece also said what made him attractive to Tennessee is that he came from a system where the QB was required to “process plays and make quick reads” which is Heupel’s deal too. Being an Alabama fan, I hope he is a dud, but my sports writing history makes me want to at least try to discuss things objectively and not from a fan’s standpoint.

How is the OL? Thought that was a part of the drama.

OL is in decent shape. Hell it was in decent shape last season once Heard got into game shape. Nico just held the ball for 8 seconds but OL improved immensely from the beginning of the season.

We will miss our starting center though. That's the big question for OL this season.

Nico most definitely has the higher potential. I don’t think anyone denies that. UT needs depth and adding someone with game experience can definitely add competition. Worst case, we gain a serviceable QB for the season.

Reminds me of a joke, bill Clinton was deboarding Air Force One and he had a small pig under his arm, a soldier asked him about the pig, Clinton replied that he got it for his wife, the soldier replied good trade sir.
