They knew the Sanders camp as well has Hunter did NOT want Cleveland but when he slid all the way to the 5th Rd....they went for it.

They're gonna be selling tickets to the greatest shitshow on earth. And it will sell out.

I posted this before they actually took him, but I stand by it
The risk became worth it, that's all really.

We're talking about guys now with something around a 1% of actual success. Sanders, I'd say, has at least a 5% chance and you can just cut him without much incident as a 5th-7th rounder if he's a problem

Worked for the redskins in 2012

Shedeur Sanders will make a max value of $4.6M on his NFL rookie contract, which is nearly $2M less than he made in NIL money at Colorado last year.
Sanders’ 5th-round contract is for 4 years/$4.6M, with an average salary of $1.161M per year.
The Browns look like the smart ones in this scenario. The CU NIL folks look pretty damn dumb.

I mean CU had some pretty good crowds at home games. In this era of “all about the benjamins”, winning isn’t everything for the institution. A freak show that draws a crowd despite losing still makes money.

The problem is that he probably still has a first round attitude. And not in a good way.

The mistake by the lake never looks smart.

From my favorite sports movie, he can always learn to speak Canadian.

Deion is on to something. How many 5th-round mercy picks get to demand a trade?

Huge difference between college and NFL.
He doesn't have his Heisman winning buddy to throw to, and even if he did, the defenses are head and shoulders better than anything in the Big XII.
Drafting him this late isn't going to drive a spike in season ticket sales. Maybe, just maybe, they sell a few thousand extra tickets for a preseason game or two if you know he will be playing, but a likely clipboard holder isn't going to put butts in seats during the regular season.

He gets the wonderful opportunity to study under the prestigious Watson. They can compare notes on how to ruin your life in one season.

He doesn't step up in the pocket.
He's not going to have the talent disparity between a Heisman winning WR and a DB in a conference that is known to play little defense.
The reads he's going to have to make are going to be substantially more difficult.
NFL OCs aren't going to adjust an entire playbook to a 5th round selection.
I said it a few days ago, he has the talent to be a very good CFL QB. But I don't think Saskatchewan has a proper recording studio for him.

I think the Browns had a great draft. Got a DT to play the run. Got 2 good Rbs when their leading rusher was #38 with 565 yards. The Browns have had qb problems since I could remember. They made a terrible decision to get Watson, then they get Pickett and bring in Flacco. I don't see a problem bringing in 2 young guys late in the draft and have a competition. Neither of these guys will have to worry about starting right away. Bring them in develope them and let them compete. Their biggest mistake was trading out of no. 2. I'm taking Carter there all day everyday.
