Best SEC rivalry

Third Saturday in October
Orange vs Crimson
Checkerboards vs Houndstooth
Bear Bryant “I’d rather beat Tennessee than eat”
Nick Saban “For our players this was a bigger rivalry than any other game”
Phillip Fulmer “It’s not just a rivalry – it’s a way of life”
Robert Neyland “You never know a player’s toughness till you play Alabama”
Tennessee has the most wins against Bama (40) of any program, and Bama has the most wins against Tennessee of any program (59). Tennessee owns the longest win streak against the Tide of any program (7), and Bama holds the longest win streak against Tennessee (15). Every national championship winning Bama coach lost their final appearance in Neyland Stadium before retiring. All three national championship winning coaches at Tennessee had a winning record against Bama. General Neyland holds the record for most wins against the Alabama football program of any coach in college football history, while Nick Saban beat the Vols more than any other coach in history.
This rivalry is unmatched in its history and place in Southern lore. The only time one of these programs is good is while the other is down. It will be interesting to see how this rivalry evolves in the new landscape of football and with two South Dakotans now leading both. To the victors cigars all around and Dixieland Delight on repeat.

So Tennessee must be down pretty often then huh

And yet, the VOLs can't even beat the Arkansas Razorbacks in tackle football.

Always fun to see the arkansas fans assert themselves in these threads because they are so irrelevant in SEC football talk that they have to try and get attention. No one cares about their program. No team views them as a rival because they are inconsequential. No team will ever storm the field after beating them because its not impressive. They are truly pointless in the grand scheme of things.
If you lose to Arkansas its cause for ridicule because its embarrassing. If you beat them then its just supposed to be another normal Saturday. They are truly a sad program because of how little they matter in this sport.

Fulmer was actually taking about his relationship with cheeseburgers here.

Meh, at least Arkansas fans aren’t on here bragging about Alabamas second-hand Rivalry.

The SEC recently invested in the best rivalry in college football. Smart move.

Yeah cause when people think of SEC football they immediately think of Texas - OU football . Red River is a great rivalry but no one associates that with the SEC yet

OU & Texas doesn't count. It's more of a bromance than a rivalry

Another Vol riding Bama's coattails.

There’s no doubt it’s a rivalry, but mainly an internal one between the two schools. If you ask anyone outside Bama and Tennessee circles and ask them to list the top rivalries in the country and in the SEC, Bama-UT doesn’t register as a “rivalry” to most.

You know another rivalry where it seems like both teams are never clicking at the same time?
Texas vs A&M
Also Texas/OU is far too nascent as SEC to be considered an SEC rivalry.

Dang, I'm of course going with the WLOCP in Jax, only because I'm a UGA fan.
But I find it hard to believe any Bama fan would pick the Vol game over Auburn. I have a cousin that pastors a church in Piedmont and half of his congregation is Auburn fans and the other half is Bama fans. One Sunday out of the month, its so bad that half of his congregation doesn't even show up after losing the game.
