Not just Nico, but several players from other programs renegotiated in the middle of a playoff run, holding the team hostage. Now I understand why Nick Saban retired.

I really hope this isn’t true but I would not be surprised given the NIL chaos that is college football today.
Players holding teams hostage and renegotiating.., just burn the entire motherfricker to the ground. All I ask is they take ESPN with it.

Looked like he took the team hostage anyways with how garbage he was in the playoffs

It would have been perfect had it been NICO, but somebody’s going to break the seal on this and be the first to opt out of playoff games, probably sooner rather than later.

Contracts must not state anything other than pay, or this wouldn't happen

This is where you might see some “under talented” teams pull out two huge victories in a row and find themselves in the final.
Just when you thought NIL killed Cinderella, entitled Lambo’s killed their own team.
This all sucks.

CFB is dead. Even Saban hid from it.
Tuberville will lead us to real change.

Actually Saban is working with Tubs on a proposal that could be voted on by Congress to fix this mess, but yes, Saban didn’t want to deal with players trying to renegotiate deals before he could even get them back on the plane after a heartbreaking loss.
Trying to enjoy being a fan of college athletics now is like trying to date a stripper: you have to be cynical or naive as hell to make it work because logically it doesn’t make any sense.

He knew it was done when his own players with Bond leading the charge tried the same and were told good luck wherever you land.
Everyone deserves the right to maximize their own value, but there are no controls to limit the one sided leverage a player has today other than just to wish them luck and send them to the highest bidder.

If true, frick this kid and his dad.
I don't care who you pick as the biggest a-hole ever to ever have or threaten a hold out in the NFL (Leveon Bell, Rodgers, Chris Johnson, Darrelle Revis, Terrell Owens, Ochocinco, Antonio Brown, etc...), not a single fricking one of them would do that for the playoffs.

The next round is a great show out of Birmingham that covers the SEC
They had a Bama insider on last offseason that said when a Bama OL got hurt and the backup came in to finish the game, after the game his agent called Saban and the OL coach and wanted to renegotiate his deal because he’s now a starter
That was the start of the end for Saban.

The pendulum has swung and now the players have more power, but we’re seeing the downside of teenagers with such power. Now it is time for it to swing back a bit, but not to where it used to be when they had no power/money.

I was just about to come and post the video from YouTube. I'm about halfway into it and this man is spinning what I'm putting down. Everything he is saying is 100% on the money.
shite's getting bad because there are no good leaders in the sport right now and they seem to just be counting on people continuing to care because that's what people have always done.

Imagine the next step from this: a kid holding out towards the end of the season when you have a shot a the playoffs but then have your rival at the end of the season.
And this is why the national level recruiting is a vulnerability. A kid from California doesn't give two fricks if he's threatening to hold out before the Iron Bowl, Egg Bowl, Clean Old Fashioned Hate, or the Palmetto Bowl.

Was he the one who played Cam $180,000 or was that another Auburn coach

The year before it felt like they talked Joe Milton into opting out of the bowl game to get Nico ready for the upcoming season.

Pate was saying this back during the playoffs but didn't name teams. I got the feeling though it was both Georgia and Tennessee.
