The whole cheering on another program (within your own proximity), is it similar to lifestyler's where one's personal misery is amplified by another's pleasure (or in this case, success)?

There are posters on the rant who are much more brazen with the word cuckoldry but I try to avoid such sophomoric peers.

First of all I cheer for anyone playing Duke.

But yes I cheer for other SEC teams when they aren’t playing UK. Having a strong and winning conference brings money and attracts recruits for all of us. Plus there is familiarity with the players. Plus listening to the National media pushes me to support my fellow southerners against others.

Florida winning did not diminish any of us. Just the opposite. They lost only four games, all to SEC teams. You should be proud that Georgia was one of them and use it in recruiting.

I don’t know or care about lifestylers. But I do know my teams reach for greatness is only achieved by playing other top notch teams. Iron sharpens Iron.

I cheer for anyone playing Auburn or Tennessee. If they are playing each other, I pull for the one who's win will most benefit Alabama.

The rest of the conference, I pull for in out of conference games. I'll pull for Kiffin anytime. As far as LSU, UGA, and UF, I don't have an inherent hatred.

I don't think my views are uncommon among Alabama fans.

Part of not having a natural rival means I hate you all equally and wish you all nothing but lack of success at all times

All I know is that SEC "pride" is more honorable than dickriding other teams for beating teams your team couldn't. At least SEC pride is pride in your region and shared culture (except Missouri).

If it's synonymous, it's no less sophmoric. And, if you have to explain it on a forum filled with sophmoric minded perverts and weirdos, it's likely not a common term, so why use it? More telling of your weird google searches than our usage of terms.

To answer the OP, I can root for any team except UTk in the SEC and will sometimes make exceptions if their win somehow helps Bama. Hoping your conference does well helps your team get the benefit of the doubt at times. So, I've no issues with it. So, no, it's not a cuckhold or dick riding mindset.

Rooting for another SEC team is akin to cheering for your brother while he rails your girlfriend. Frick all y’all, Hogs by 90
