I watched the Wednesday press conference last night. Billy did seem a little more giddy than usual (just a tad bit at least). He definitely knew by then he wasn't being fired.

Might have to sticky that purgatory thread if he doesn't at least make the right off field changes in a few weeks.

You'll regret this thread when we only lose to Texas by 4 scores.

It’s a relief honestly.

I won’t keep my expectations high and Florida football won’t be high on my priority list for Saturdays.

Had Mullen not rolled with Grantham for a fourth season in 2021, he might have been given an additional year to establish a new DC. In 2024, Napier would have had the luxury of choosing any OC he wanted. Yet, he will be searching for a new OC for a make-or-break 2025 season. There is no more second chances remaining. The offensive coordinators this job is going to appeal to are those who are looking to be fired to collect three seasons' worth of salary for a single season's effort. What intelligent up and comer OC is going to sully their reputation to join Billy's staff, get overridden by him, and then get pulled under by the anchor that is Napier.

And finally, the obvious one....2025 coaching carousel is going to be a lot worse than what we have to deal with this season. USC, Oklahoma, FSU, Auburn, maybe even OSU could be in play? In the end they'll probably overpay to get a 4th choice coach and we probably enter another 3-4 year cycle of pain.

The people who make decisions are just completely incapable of doing their job properly.

I assume that they'll be using the Lagway name to recruit not only portal players, but a decent offensive assistant staff. God forbid Lagway goes down for an extended period of time or has a change of heart, and that whole plan falls apart.

As it stands, Billy's offensive genius is not there, and depending on a transcendental QB to hide the offensive inadequacies will have its repercussions in the future.
