re: Florida Fan Falls From Traffic Light While Celebrating NCAA Basketball Championship Win

They greased the light and traffic poles. Maybe while climbing past it he got some on his shoes and that caused him to fall.
Or, maybe idiots just shouldn't be climbing poles and falling off is the price they pay. I was once younger and capable of some pretty stupid shite but I like to think I wouldn't have ever done this if I were in the same situation.

I still don’t believe the gators didn’t capitalize on all that success. I really thought the football and basketball programs would zoom into the stratosphere and we would see numerous titles. We were on top of the world. The decline was sudden and long.
Not enough people hold Foley responsible. He definitely destroyed it all for a failed vanity project to win the #1 athletic department trophy. A trophy no one on the planet cares about except for half a dozen athletic directors. Yeah, let's take money from the revenue generating sports and ram it into things no one cares about. Blows my mind how reluctant everyone is to acknowledge this even still.

Posts like this say more about the poster than the target. Clearly the 1980 talk scarred some Georgia fans for life.

Miami(FL)'s "NIL King" booster is still under investigation by the other SEC for "accounting errors" among other things. Here is the latest update for his company with the ticker MSPR:
2.19 USD? -6,047.81 (-99.96%) all time
I wonder how this will impact Miami(FL) moving forward.

For some reason anytime the subject of brisket is brought up, a lot of people say it isn't any good and the chorus of replies is always along the lines of:
"You don't like brisket because you haven't had the perfect brisket yet. I, like you, have had just heaps and heaps of terrible brisket. But, there's a gas station down in Mississippi(or wherever) with good brisket and it is just the best BBQ ever. The people in all the other cities and (especially) states don't know how to make it, but people near where I live cook it perfectly. I don't blame you for hating brisket if you don't get it from the place I get it from."
If it is such a marginal food that you need some rare alchemist to make it taste good, then maybe pig is better.

Jackson is a needed depth piece and you know you didnt want to lose Pyburn.
I'd say Jackson is the real loss. If Pyburn extracted from LSU the playtime demands he wanted from Florida, you might be annoyed by the end of next season. He's solid against the run though. It's just out of 40 sacks on the team, he had 1...as an edge...with 350 snaps or so.
Whoever gets TJ Searcy is the team getting a quality edge player.
re: Mullen at UNLV

I wonder if he is going to hire his longtime OL coach John Hevesy again? They worked together over 20 years. Hevesy has 6 years as his "Co-OC."
The number of coaches willing to work with Mullen is limited. Hevesy is working for Lowes now and I doubt they will match the offer.

Yeah, we should give the trophy to a guy that played against 1 decent team all season
Decent? You mean the #1 team in the country that he rocked for 200 yards and almost found a way for a team like Boise State to beat them? It's not like he racked up stats against the weakest opponents either. His lowest output was against the FCS school.

the guy who played 100+ snaps of football almost every game and was the best player on the field, on either side of the ball, every time the ball was snapped.
I think you would love high school football, man. This happens every week at most schools.
My question is how many players have played DB/WR in college? It seems like a really high hit rate for the Heisman just showing up doing this. It shouldn't come down to twisting the arm of a coach to get a Heisman for playing both sides of the ball.

Napier is a nice guy. He brought in Ron Roberts to "coach the coaches" on defense after the disaster of 2023. But in the interviews I've listened to, players have been saying Roberts was the defensive play caller.
The only thing I'm unsure about is when the change happened. Was it the start of the season, or did it change after that 2-2 start? Because the defense changed for the better almost overnight following the bye week. They didn't just improve in play, the style changed with a lot more two high safeties and fewer rushers.

re: Not a fan of A&M but have to call bs a bit on the SEC
Posted by brambo on 12/13/24 at 11:53 am
Florida used to have a yearly rivalry game with Auburn. As of next season they will have played once in 14 years. Meanwhile, there will have been 6 games played against Texas A&M. Nothing against Texas A&M, they seem like nice people, but what the hell?
SEC scheduling is terrible. I would be shocked if that changes in my lifetime. I almost can't wait to see how they're going to screw over some teams and play favorites for 2026. All you can do is enjoy the show as they strain all credibility.

re: Dan Mullen is reportedly to be the next head coach at UNLV
Posted by brambo on 12/12/24 at 9:08 am
I don't know why he would settle for UNLV. Thats a hell of a get for them if this works out. He's one of the best X and O's coaches out there. Maybe not a great head coach, but his play calling more than makes up for it at a school like UNLV.
My concern is that he was literally losing his mind in 2020 from COVID, BLM, NIL, and all the changes that hit the sport. I think he is more than slightly autistic and he couldn't deal with change. He wanted out to the NFL, he mentally NEEDED out. I just don't see any signs that the rate of change in the college game is slowing down. The potential for him to have another meltdown is there, but I guess it is worth the risk for a school like UNLV.

re: Top 20 Friendliest CFB Fanbases per Betway
Posted by brambo on 12/11/24 at 4:16 pm
If you guys want the actual answer for the friendliest fanbases, look at 3rd tier Midwest teams and Pacific Northwest schools in small towns. They may talk shite, but ultimately, they are just wanting to hang out and have a good time win or lose. If you emit that kind of energy, you will find it reflected back at you even as a fan of an opposing team.
If you want to find the least friendly fanbases, find a fanbase with national championship expectations who continually gets close but never wins. An example is Georgia fans were the absolute worst. But, since their team won they've become much more bearable. If we cared to, we could probably come up with a blue balls formula to find out who the worst fanbase is.
Ohio State fans have got to be the worst or close to it. I haven't spent time with Oregon fans, but I could imagine they carry a lot of frustration as well.

What an odd stat.
UGA is 43rd in "stop rate", yet 15th in total (yardage) defense and 17th in scoring defense.
Why is it odd? The stats you listed off can be drastically altered by burning clock with a ball control offense to shorten the game. They are more of a team stat than a defense stat.

Am I missing something?
His deep ball accuracy is just about the best I have ever seen. If his hamstring wasn't holding him back, at least a few of those incompletes would be scrambles for big gains. More than anything I think he helps the running backs. When he is a threat to keep, it helps open the running lanes. Also, stretching the defense vertically also opens up the running game.
Realistically he's probably a bit overhyped at the moment. There are questions about quick and intermediate passes. Sometimes he throws a covered deep pass when a higher % pass is available at a closer range, etc. But, he is promising for sure.
re: Clark Lea Coach of the Year?
Posted by brambo on 11/24/24 at 3:59 pm
I feel like I say this a lot, but Napier first lowered the bar of expectations to the floor and then stepped over it. It is impressive he didn't lose the locker room, but it seems hardly coach of the year worthy.
247sports says that Florida has the #12 team talent composite, which is on par with LSU and well ahead of Ole Miss. If you want to question the use of the talent composite as a metric, you may have a point. But I don't see anything better.

You guys ever feel like if things had gone differently in Drink's life that he would have been a school shooter? My dog barks at him when he's on TV, and I trust his judgment. There's something wrong with Drink, but I don't know what it is.
re: Big Vol Daddy “BVD” of YouTube has passed away
Posted by brambo on 11/24/24 at 9:55 am
I first found BVD almost a decade ago. There was a video of him losing his mind and cursing Florida. It made me feel good because it was during one of the (many) lowest points of Florida football I have experienced. While I may have felt bad, this guy clearly felt worse. But I listened to a few more videos and realized he was a very likeable guy. I wasn't a regular listener of his shows or anything, but I did listen to quite a few. So much so that when Florida lost to Tennessee in 2022 I immediately thought "Well, at least BVD is going to be happy."
Even though we didn't share a fandom, there was something I really enjoyed about hearing him talk about his love for the game and his team. Sad to hear that he has passed.

There's been so many injuries in the secondary this season, and I always expect the next one will be the straw that broke the camels back where it all falls apart. It only takes one clueless safety to make a defense terrible. Yet somehow they've moved guys around and held up in spite of those injuries.
I don't know how good the DC has been, but credit to the defense staff as a whole for having this many guys ready to play at this many positions and at this level.

No one tried to deliberately injure him. Did you seriously believe that Cletus moron on twitter saying he was being punched in the face? If you actually look at the video clip, it is clear that he's just having his mouthpiece yanked. It's a bit childish to do so, but there wasn't any injury or intent to do so.
I can't believe you were fooled into thinking that was an attempt to injure. But, I guess taxes exist for society to help take care of people like yourself.
