Should Derek Ruscin actually be praised?

Seems the players finally found their balls and some fire, especially Turner. Was this team so coddled by the local "media" and echo chamber, ban-every-dissenting voice message board, that they actually needed someone publicly to question their attitude and play?

I mean, sure, but Ruscin calling players a stupid arse is going to far. Questioning if they were soft would have had the same result without him being suspended.

the ol' boy shouldn't have used the words he used; but the team has played with more fire since, and that's not in question; turner should be the MVP of the region, and he blocked more balls this weekend than he has all season

Ruscin is such a dipshit that I’m 99% sure he likely thinks he is somehow responsible for lighting a fire under this team.

No. Just talking doesn't garner praise more than actually going out there and beating OSU on their field. Any knucklehead can call out a team that's struggling and hurl insults. If success had anything to do with fanbase pressure and ridiculous expectations, LSU would make Omaha every season.

If you can't understand the line Ruscin crossed by personally insulting (very personally) a student-athlete, then you're pretty fricked in the head. What he did wasn't "criticism".
I'm embarrassed that Ruscin is still part of Arkansas sports media at this point. He should not be anywhere near our program. He obviously has a serious personality disorder.

Agreed. Of all the folks we’ve heard of the last few years getting canned or cancelled for minor stuff and then this dipshit keeps his job. It’s a disgrace to humanity. As much as we (or me for sure) sneer and criticize other teams players for acting like punk asses on the field, they’re still better than this dweeb- at least they’re in the heat of the action doing dumb stuff unlike this Neanderthal.

Might be unpopular but Ruscin did have a point if he would have chosen his words a lot more carefully. No reason to throw insults at players but a one-year player calling out the fan base is pretty obnoxious as well. Doesn’t make Turner the bad guy, but if I’m DVH I’m not happy about what he said.
You can say something wrong and still be redeemable. Goes for both Turner and Ruscin (although Ruscin’s comments are obviously more over the top with the personal insults)

The question is, who struck first? If memory serves, Turner threw the first punch calling out the fanbase for the team's lack of success.
Now, Im not at all condoning what Ruscin said, but you cant be surprised that insults were hurled back given what Turner said and how they have preformed. Not to mention that these kids want to get paid like professionals, so dont be surprised when you get professional criticism as well
