Uncle Lou roasts Dean Legge on his G-Day take.
This is worth a good chuckle.
In that clip Uncle Lou reminds me of message board posters who go on the attack if any post is too "homerish". UGA football boards have a regular squad of hall monitors who make it their job to sniff out and squash overstated optimism, or in some cases any optimism. Not that I have a problem with "realism", but the obsession with disputing any hint of favoritism is absurd and seems like trolling to me.
Dean Legge sells his product to Georgia fans and many Georgia fans like optimistic commentary, Uncle Lou's derision notwithstanding. In this case, Lou's point is off base anyway because Legge wasn't trying to compare UGA's receivers to Devonta Smith and company. His statement was about how a team could approach success/greatness from a different direction than they had historically. Here's what he said.
quote:
I thought these receivers, man they definitely look like they could be pretty good and it makes you think about the Alabama team in 20, you know, that like maybe this team isn't necessarily predicated on things that we've seen in the past from Georgia. I don't know.

I also watched the full Legge video after seeing Lou's. In context, it really did sound like he was comparing our WR room to 2020 Bama. Maybe he's just a poor communicator or maybe I'm just dumb.
One thing was accomplished though, Legge will get a lot more hits on his page now; Lou did him a favor.
Also, Legge comes across like a serial killer in the G-Day interview with Carson Beck. That's a fact that cannot be disputed.

Dean Legge has been around Butts-Mehre forever and has forgotten more about Georgia football than Uncle Lou will ever know. What if anything makes Uncle Lou an expert on anything, other than battling mental health challenges and making people cringe?

You clearly didn't watch the video.

I've never watched a Lou video.
I gone about 2 minutes in twice.
I don't expect him to have any regrets or shame for not watching a video.

You're missing out bro. Especially as much shite talk as you do on the SEC Rant. Lou is a great source material. There's a reason so many people hate him.

Something else I learned on G-Day-
Ian still runs Music Warehouse on Lumpkin.

I'm not a mind reader, but it sounded to me like he provided the context in the last part where he said, "maybe this team isn't necessarily predicated on things that we've seen in the past from Georgia." That's the comparison he's making, because 2020 Alabama won a playoff championship in large part based on the strength of their passing attack, which was considered a departure from their history under Saban. If you look at their past championships under Saban, a physical style of play, defense and the run game, was the hallmark of those teams. When they won the championship in 2020, it was a common refrain in the media that Saban had adapted to use his team strengths.
Legge is saying that UGA's "pretty good" and deep corps of receivers, obviously in combination with Beck and a strong OL, are good enough to do the same. In other words, maybe in 2024 a strong passing attack will be the predominant factor that leads Georgia to a championship, instead of depending more on defense and running game. I actually think that was the case in 2022, but most people still seem to attribute UGA's successes to running the ball and playing great defense. Or maybe they think we used the TE's too much to be considered a "modern" passing offense.

That's the question. How is he getting those serial killer vibes

Looks like Andrew Paul hit the portal

Wtf he was playing a lot in the highlights I saw and looking good. What a waste for Kirby to let him go.

Probably saw that he couldn't pass RR. Also, Branson may be coming back sooner than we thought. He probably didn't want 3rd or 4th string

Last year I was more excited for Branson's 2nd year than any RB since Chubb. If he can return in good form, even if later in the season, that would be a big boost for depth. Still wish Paul would reconsider, but seems like this had been in the works for a while. There are a lot teams who would love to pick up a talented, well-coached player, and maybe slow Georgia's momentum in the process.

I heard there’s going to be a few WRs too.

This implies kirby has done something wrong. If AP either 1)wants to start which he obviously won't here, or 2)has a hand out asking for way too much money, what is Kirby supposed to do exactly?

If it's more than one, I hope Kirby picks one off from somebody else's roster. It's dog eat dog and hopefully Georgia has the funds to play that game.

Tyler Williams wouldn’t surprise me.

All of those guys get carries, though. Seems like a poor decision on Paul's part.

He maybe at risk. I'm wondering about RaRa, even though haven't heard his name mentioned.
