I’m intrigued by Booth in Lebby’s offense and think he can be a quality change of pace back to combo with some more traditional ground and pound guys in Pittman and Lee. State’s offense has a chance to be pretty fun. They’re gonna need to be because I think that defense will really suck....
Has any conference ever gotten four top 8 seeds? I expect some serious frickery by this committee if history holds.
I’m certain the SEC has done it multiple times. And you’re probably gonna get 5 this year unless Georgia loses to Florida at home....
The hosting bubble is strong this year, State is definitely not a slam dunk yet. Right now there are about 20 teams with legit hosting cases and obviously only 16 make the cut. Need to sweep Mizzou and then see what else happens this weekend. If State drops a game, that could be trouble. Most of ...
State likely got Ole Miss and Bama as its two permanents which I expected....
Lemonis said yesterday we have never and will never cancel a game because of RPI. Weather is supposed to be clear tonight. Dahm coming back and pitching tonight is huge for State. If he is healthy and throwing well, that is a big boost for our postseason. He was our Friday night starter an...

State should probably cancel too. Rain chances are like 50% but North Alabama is a terrible RPI game....
outside very unique circumstances, how you do in Hoover has basically no effect on any of that
The host bubble is pretty tight this year. And a loss to Mizzou could drop State’s RPI back into the 20’s which might be an issue. They may need a win or two in Hoover to prop it back up....
This hasn't been talked about enough. If Florida loses the series this weekend, they have to win their first game in the SECT or they'd be ineligible for the NCAAT. They were in a similar boat in 2013. They finished the season at 29-28 and got a bid because of their RPI
If they ...
State hosts if they sweep Mizzou or win 2/3 and then win a game or two in Hoover I think Vandy and Bama just need 1 more win to get in, OM needs 2 more wins, LSU needs 3 more wins. Florida either has to win the series in Athens or make a deep run in Hoover...
Kentucky's Head Coach Mingione is a hell of a coach. He will continue to win and be in the thick of it for years to come. Wish we had him at Auburn.
The John Cohen pipeline is strong. Mingione, Butch Thompson, and Lane Burroughs (LA Tech) were all Cohen assistants that helped dra...

State just doesn’t have the bullpen depth this year to be elite. Good team otherwise. Sweep a bad Mizzou team and there will be a Starkville Regional....

They’re two wins away from at least a share of the SEC championship. Yes they are very good....

I think State hosts with 3 more SEC wins. And one of them could be in Hoover. Win today and there’s an outside chance of a Top 8....

SC needs this series more than Georgia does as I think UGA can survive a series loss but SC would have a harder time doing so, especially since they play in Knoxville next week....
State laying an egg in nonconference is probably going to cost them a chance for a Top 8. Specifically those 5 days in February where they lost 3 games to Air Force and Austin Peay....
So fascinating that the #1 overall seed won it in the very first year of this format and then hasn’t won it a single time since. And has rarely even made the finals, with several #1 overall seeds failing to get to Omaha....
Our RPI is 18
Yeah and it was in the 50’s before the Auburn series. State has jumped almost 40 spots in not even three weeks....
I’m pumped about the pitching matchups in Fayetteville this weekend. Everyone knows about Arkansas’s pitching and rightfully so, but State’s Friday and Saturday guys have been excellent in their own right....
I think the winner of the SC-Georgia series is just about a lock. State probably becomes a lock if they win two in Fayetteville though that seems unlikely. I think Georgia and SC both just need 16 wins to host. State needs at least 17. The first day of Hoover could end up mattering for this, t...

So… 7 SEC hosts this year?

Posted by Captain Falcon on 5/5/24 at 9:38 pm
Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, A&M are all locks, State, SC, and Georgia are all at least two games over .500 in SEC and have Top 20 RPI’s. UGA is 5, SC is 13, State is 18. Though State does have the most SEC wins of the three and a head to head series win versus Georgia. State closes with Ark...
