Line judge looking right at it and doesn't call. Pos

To be fair, I’m a line judge for HS and it’s really difficult to see that hold if he’s grabbing with the left hand going towards you while you’re turning upfield. Luckily the deep helped him out. Still doesn’t excuse the other missed holds though

In what way is he doing fine Einstein?

He is 9/14 for 141 yds and a 10.1avg in his first career start. Are you even watching the game?
Not likely. We’d have to have 5 P5 teams finish undefeated through their conference championships. Then the team ranked last out of the 5 undefeated teams would have to run the gauntlet. That’s not going to happen very often if at all.

Never mind. I’ve been drinking and forgot how to count.

LSU is likely undefeated right now with Georgia’s schedule

You do realize Georgia beat Ole Miss by 5 touchdowns, don’t you? You know, the same Ole Miss that beat LSU?
Have either of you called any college ball? I have 5 years of high school under my belt, so and I’ll be taking a camp this summer to get the ball rolling and hopefully officiate some division II next season.
Which association do you call for Steelerbravesdawg? I’m Multi county but might move over to northeast association.
The official rule is 1-1-6 in the NCAA Rulebook.

Persons subject to the rules, including bands and audio/video/lighting systems operators, shall not create any noise or distraction that prohibits a team from hearing its signals or obstructs play (Rule 1-1-6).

PENALTY [5]—Unsportsmanlike conduct. The referee may take any action they consider equitable, which includes directing that the down be repeated, including assessing a 15-yard penalty, awarding a score, or suspending or forfeiting the game [S27].

In reality I’ve only ever seen it enforced as a warning and a 15 yard penalty if it doesn’t stop.
With certain penalties you do. It’s hard to throw a sideline warning or 5 in the backfield in the 4th quarter when it matters while the tackle has been lining up a yard off the center’s hip the whole game.

A good general rule is if it doesn’t impact the play and it can be fixed quickly by talking to the player then give them a warning. If they do it again then hit ‘em early. We call it “preventative officiating”

So a person would have to be true piece of shite to throw a flag on Mark Richt for dropping the F bomb.

Penn Wagers has an ego problem
Lol I only throw flags for the n word. I grew up on a football field. Swearing comes with the territory.

The one I'm still butthurt over is the PI call on the sideline when their receiver was the one throwing our DB down.

This play had OPI written all over it
I try to if I think it will keep a flag from being thrown later or again. Certain schools you have to do that or players will be swinging at each other by the 4th quarter! The well coached and disciplined team I rarely have to speak to a coach about a player
And that’s where you start to see differences between officiating crews. A lot of calls like that are based on judgement and being able to see it well enough to make that call. I would have warned the defender the first time and then thrown it the second time, but if you don’t catch it the first time then it’s tough to throw it the second.
Absolutely. That’s kind of an unspoken rule that we try to abide by. We could throw a flag for holding every single play too. We try to only throw them when it causes a run to bust open or a QB to escape
This is technically the rule if you’re interested.

ART. 6 . . . While any free kick is in flight in or beyond the neutral zone to the receiver’s goal line or any scrimmage kick is in flight beyond the neutral zone to the receiver’s goal line, K shall not:

a. Touch the ball or R, unless blocked into the ball or R, or to ward off a blocker; or
b. Obstruct R’s path to the ball.

This prohibition applies even when no fair-catch signal is given, but it does not apply after a free kick has been touched by a receiver, or after a scrimmage kick has been touched by a receiver who was clearly beyond the neutral zone at the time of touching.

So by rule, yes, K touching R beyond the neutral zone during a scrimmage kick does technically mean kick catch interference has occurred. Officials aren’t going to apply that rule unless it’s egregious or impacts the play.
I didn’t see if he was blocked into the returner during the play but officials usually only throw that flag when
1. The contact is unnecessary
2. It Impacts the catch (muff)

eta - as an official I don’t like throwing that flag unless I have to when it’s a safety issue. The rule book is a bit vague concerning that penalty for both high school and college.

Talked to an official on my crew that does Georgia practices last night. For what it’s worth he said both quarterbacks looked like shite all week. Could be Kirby just waiting for JT to take the job back.

I’m a high school official for Northeast Georgia Association within GHSA. I spoke with one of our veteran white hats who officiates practices for UGA. I was told that JT did not practice yesterday, but that the plan is to start him.

What? We have a very different coaching staff since those two players left. I think it’d be productive if the coaching staff were to evaluate where those players are now vs when they were here, and why they might have struggled to produce at a similar level within our system.

Fields and Eason at halftime

Both quarterbacks have looked excellent today other than a couple bad decisions. At halftime of both games they have combined for

32/41 (78%)
429 pass yards (13.4 Avg)
8 total TDs (6 passing)
0 INTs
10 Rush attempts for 38 yards

I would still rather have Fromm, but it’s interesting to watch these guys develop under a different staff.
