Been several once in a generation talents on the mound at VU last 15ish years…
There will be some bumps in the road of course but VU was in reality a very young lineup last season and will return 10/12 top bats. Bullpen dealt with tons of injuries last season and will have tremendous depth.
By the end of the season there’s no reason it shouldn’t all come together to be a contender.

Thanks for putting this together. I’m pleasantly shocked at how well Vandy seems to have made it through.
Along with getting the guys through that were expected Keegan, Thomas and Maladano are basically locks to return as well.
Anything less than Omaha and competing for the NC again will be a big let down with the roster where it will be next year.

Dom Keegan returning to Vandy. Likely Maladano as well and possibility Thomas (though with his attitude I wouldn’t be surprised to see him transfer rather than return). Never would have expected that.
VU may get 6 top 100 HS kids through the draft as it stands now. Would be the most ever for a Corbin class.

Rocker would definitely be up for Vandy. I would have to think it’s quick to expect more than 2-3 innings from Bednar.

FYI with bonuses and other monies Corbins total comp coming after the 14 national title was north of $2.5 million.
It will be next year before Vandy’s 19 tax info is available but belief is he was paid $2.9 mil from those in the know.

Team crapped the bed against Louisville in the supers but had it won the CWS would be remembered as one of the greatest teams in SEC history.
Oddly enough that disappointment apparently catapulted the program over the hump as Vandy won its first title the next year.

I have very little feel for this Vandy team and their true chances to win a title because of the bullpen. Although from this point out you need 7 wins to get to the ultimate prize and Rocker/Leiter will start 6 of those games.
ECU is a very good team and I’ll always be very nervous about a Super. That said when you look at ECUs schedule it does give some pause and positive thoughts for the Dores. ECU has lost only 15 games but 10 of them have come since 4/23. Also, 13 of their wins (30% of their victories) came against Cincinnati and Memphis. There is very good competition in the AAC but they don’t see guys like Leiter/Rocker and SEC staffs weekend after weekend.

I would agree with the OP if Vandy hadn’t suffered season ending injuries to our two most reliable bullpen arms (Doolin & Holbrook). Our pen has good numbers and are clearly talented guys but there is NO ONE in there you can trust to get 3 outs in a high pressure situation. Just look at last night.
At this point I wouldn’t be sad to see Corbin run Christian Little (Fr who shutdown Ole Miss in the SEC tourney) out there in a spot like the 9th last night.

There’s a guy on one of the National boards claiming that he has two kids committed to UF (coaches HS) and that O’Sullivan is a done deal fo LSU. Obviously TIFWIW but I stopped by to see what the thoughts were here on your vacancy and figured I would add to the rumor mill.
O’Sullivan or Godwin would be great choices, though O’Sullivan rubs me the wrong way personally he’s a great coach.
