Why can't LSU?!?

Serious question. For years around here it was always "we don't care about basketball" "we are a football + baseball school" How are these other schools able to turn around mens basketball and we can't?

The number of threads I've seen comparing the pro careers of ex Bama players to those of others (mainly LSU players) is staggering. You do realize that these players don't care as long as they get to the league and make millions, right? Why can't yall just be happy for them all?

I guess that's the only thing they can find some comfort in at this point now that Lord Saban is gone.

Did NOT expect him to be this good as a rookie - especially given the fact that he was a dink and dunk specialist in college. But seems like Payton has helped upskill him big time.

Unfortunately for BK…he left ND at a time where no one could imagine what NIL and the transfer portal was going to evolve into in short order. Shane Gillis on Espn was joking abt this w Saban but it’s true…now that ND (and its rich alumni base) can pay players just like Bama used to, they can compete too.

Had BK stayed at ND he would have done the same. Those Irish hoodlums need to thank BK for all those years of winning seasons AND natty appearance despite being handcuffed from an academic and recruiting standpoint. He was right…when he left he DIDN’T have the resources or the same level of recruits. Now they do.

Also…please go back and compare the state of the 2 programs when coaches switched. BK handed Freeman a program in a much stronger state than he inherited at LSU

Serious discussion…

Looking at the teams that made playoffs…as well as random upsets during the season and in bowl games. Oregon being the only undefeated team. Is this a sign that NIL and the transfer portal is actually creating more parity…or at least bringing up the middle/lower tier programs? Now 4 and 5 star players who don’t start at a blue blood can just go chase a paycheck somewhere else.

Combine that with the fact that now these “elite” players at the big schools are making so much $$$ without ever having to play a snap and it reduces their work ethic and they are not playing as hard.

Net result ….more parity.

Bama, please don’t embarrass yourselves out of this game.
