re: Shough’s pro comp

Posted by saints5021 on 4/28/25 at 9:39 am
I have heard a few NFL guys quoted as saying Shough goes 1.1 if he is 22 or 23. He dropped to the second round because of age and injury history, not lack of talent.
I have no doubt that he has a shoulder injury. I imagine it is one of those long term things that he can mostly fix with PT, but eventually will need to get it cleaned up. If I am Carr, and I know I already have all the money the Saints will give me, I am not in their future plans, I am 34 and will be 35 when I get cut and I have gotten that shoulder hurt the last 2 seasons, than getting the surgery now is probably the right move.

I still hate him but I understand why this is playing out like it is.
If QB hits, we can be a contender after the next draft. We will be off of all the old guys next season and will have drafted a ton of young cheap guys to replace them.

Need to trade Haner

Try to get a 5th or 6th for him. Still young and would be a good backup for somwone

Well, that's your opinion. Multiple scouts have him ranked as the best QB in this draft

re: Is there still hope for Foskey?

Allen sucked all the talent from every rookie and somehow redistributed it to scrub defensive backs. Foskey was as pedigreed as they come. School sack leader, athleticism off the charts, young and hungry, team captain. Somehow, he was unable to record barely any stats in the season. Yet he had journeyman DBs and UDFAs starting games in the defensive backfield. Has to be some sort of football talent vampire.

I think he will benefit greatly from Staley ... now, I expect nothing from him because he has shown nothing, but I think he is in a position to do something on the field this year.

re: I think Banks starts at guard

Banks is your future. You didn't draft him to play Guard. Penning can sit the bench for all I care. You put Banks at LT, Fuaga back to RT and you are set for years to come.

re: Jalen Milroe

Why? Milroe has the potential to be Hurts, who just dominated the NFL with the very coach that we have. If Milroe becomes an average passer, he is a league MVP. Hell, he may only have to throw the ball 10-15 times a game with the way he runs.
At 40, Sanders is a steal. Maybe the drop humbles him a bit and he spends the time to correct all the issues with his game. Regardless of what people think of him, he is still an incredibly accurate passer.
Maybe we can get Aiden Hutchinson to fit with that group
I agree with Shotgun approach, I would just rather be closer to the target to make the shot. Again, take out the Colston, Streif, Bushrod, Armstead hits a decade ago and we literally have drafted 3 guys in the last 4 rounds that are servicable NFL players this decade.

We do way better with Undrafted FAs, so focus on that and get as many top 110 guys as you can get.
I was all about quantity during this draft, but I watched Mike Tripplet's review of the last 10 years of day 3 picks and it is a who's who of who is that guy? We have had our share of misses, but it is abysmal once you get past round 3. I know later picks are a dart throw, but you really only got Gardner-Johnson, Ellis and Rattler during that timeframe that are serviceable/playable.

- Pick 112 (4th) and 184 (6th) get you up to pick 90 (3rd)
- Pick 131 (4th) and 184 (6th) get you to pick 115 (4th)

This team needs young contributors, not guys that only have 1 NFL trait.

Anyone that watched Penning consistently get walked back into the QB's lap loves this pick. God forbid Penning or Fuaga gets injured, you would have literal no names playing OT.

If we don't trade up, I wouldn't mind Sanders or Milroe. Missing on a second round QB is way better than missing top 10

List your top 10 for tomorrow.

Tons of talent left.
