Might be next season before he achieves it; or maybe never... but the truth is, this season's team doesn't need "special" to win out. It just needs "competent", and Mettenberger is getting close to that. Ain't quite there, and he definitely doesn't need to get full of himself yet, but he's getting close

well said, every word.

Hot seat is being warmed up in College Station though.
Loud.
Its the linemen who will make or break Mr Mettenberger.
That arm is WOW when he is safe to watch the play unfold.
the new line was plenty good enough vs South Carolina.
That needs to keep happening, and I have no idea what depth there is, since the depth is now starting.
I was heartened by Ware taking snaps. I think that's the key.
Mettenberger is not quite there. As noted above, maybe later this season, maybe next season. You never know until it happens. We dont know him, so we have no idea what its like to walk in his shoes. It seems whopping big, to me. Maybe win the BCS, maybe be the all time goat of this news cycle.
It would be a great story if he could lead LSU to an undefeated season, next year. He will have the team around him, it seems.
And of course, due to the truth that anything can happen and always does, maybe LSU wins 11.
I concur with the underlying premise

that Mett is not effective passing in short range.
He has the arm for the long ones, and looks NFL ready when he has to pass to the sidelines,
but in his first few games, he was hesitant, and short armed, and wobbled. Vs South Carolina he was better, and if he had not been better than the first few games, LSU would have lost.
But he is still not "there".

From the 10 on in, I would go to the best dual threat we have, and give two or three of them plenty of snaps before the Bama game.

We can work Mettenberger back into the short game act after he demonstrates real competence, which he will have to do anyway.
(there is always call for a short game, like in 3rd and 2.)
If we knew who the dual threat guys are who actually practice, we could carry on a better conversation. We dont know for sure what plays they would call for the wildcat guys. Not enough passing, I am guessing. I remember RS10's QB snaps. Taken down hard, like he was in the 5th grade and the opponents were in the 7th, BOOM! I remember this RS10 snap as QB:
He JUMPED! into a hole at the line, but he was snatched out of the air by someone LARGE who slammed RS10 to the ground like sack of potatoes.

So yes, Ware or someone who is a threat to both run and pass.
On short yardage, even in the middle of the field, like Tebow did, his freshman year.

have y'all watched ND?

yes. the ball crossed the goal line.

I dont like it.

We aren't jumping K-state if they win out.

nor will LSU 'leap' over Our Lady or Oregon if they win out.

Looks like LSU fans will be cheering for Southern Cal and Kiffin.
(the ignominy)

I'd recommend Fidelity. They have some no-fee type mutual funds of different risk levels.

I was advising someone who was 'married' to Fidelity.

During the Bush/Paulson crash, Fidelity moved FINANCIALS into a gold mutual fund, killing all the profit I had carefully squeezed out of a down ward market.
I can no longer cannot trust them. the State of NY was able to sue Fidelity about that incident, 25 million to the injured parties.

You look at the components of the mutual fund, it looks great, and they can move ANYTHING into your supposed X fund, so its underlying weakness becomes unrelated to the supposed X, and the Z portion tanks.

Pick your own damn stocks.

yes, and will muschamp should be his replacement.

:rotflmao:
shite happens.

the formal word for it is KLIK-KLAK, in Adidam.

Murray State with Miles Simon (only on ESPNU)

Best part is that I am in the west, so I dont have to stay up to midnight to see it.

I like Miles Simon.

I am SO bummed out that Zay Jackson is dismissed for his role in the parking lot incident. I had the hope they might compete.

Rats. A sad hard lesson, Mr Zay Jackson is about to learn.
Prosecutor is offering compromise lower jail time as if it were Halloween candy. Even commenting to the press how Jackson would have been better off to get out of his car and punch someone out.

I know: the A's were on fire.

wont beat the cards

Cards wont beat Nationals.

I wish the Cards would win though, so the Giants can have home field.

Father Time is undefeated.

Undefeated K-State, WV, Oregon, and Our Lady of South Bend would all go ahead of one loss SEC champ. Not sure about Tex, because B12 officially apologized to Ok State saying referees fricked up (giving game to Tex).

I do not count Louisville, Rutgers and/or Cincinnati. They will be the designated victim to the SEC champ in the Sugar, or to the SEC runnerup, if the SEC champ goes to the BCS-Miami-natty.

Luck total package of a classic QB

Cincinnati, the first team to lose three straight at home after taking a 2-0 lead in division level play.

Go Giants.

anything else you want to know?

Arias hits a ton. He's not the best fielder.

The Panda still needs to lose 30 pounds.

yes, you guys had pitching go down. shite happens.
Look at the A's. they just lost their #1 pitcher to a line drive and still only lost because some umpire decided to call balls way off the outside of the plate a strike for verlander, like he was for the Braves in 1990. what a gip.

quote:

What also worries me is that Les says he wants to throw the ball deep down field, but our O-line needs to contain their D-line for at least 4 seconds plus Mett's long arse throwing motion. I suspect a lot of sacks.

a lot of sacks = someone else finishing the game under center

its like watching a train wreck.

please make it stop.

Bench our current qb for who exactly?

a dual threat.

we have two QBs who meet that description.

bolden, 6 4" 208, Penn State transfer, a junior who looked courageous but not top shelf passer last time I saw him on TV.

and a redshirt freshman Jerrard Randall 6 1 185. Too small to risk for what I have in mind, a kind of single wing thing with big backs up ahead of the passing tailback.

My take on the whole thing is that the NCAA practice time limit
cuts into what you can do.

thank you. :rotflmao:

We have averaged a final ranking of 8.7 for since 2003.

Do you really think we are supposed to go undefeated every year?

I bet there is a shite ton of pressure to make the final four though.

the playoff is going to change how people think of a football season.

his statement just sunk in for me ...
God I hope the OL can keep Mett upright on Saturday.

hence the hope/prayer that the wildcat is being installed as we type.
