re: Federal judge vacates CDC's eviction moratorium

This is a federal district judge, right? Should his ruling apply nationwide?
I think there was much consternation about a Hawaii judge doing that.

The Texas State Supreme Court established an eviction moratorium that applied to Justices of the Peace, the court of original jurisdiction.
That has since expired.
The feds stopped foreclosures on federally-backed loans.

I got down in the gutter with y'all when 808lbs told me to eff off, commie, in response to my thoughtful post.
I see comprehension isn't your strong suit, either.

I think they argued -could- be compromised because Cyber Ninjas refused to disclose its privacy protection protocols.
That was settled last week.
Suck on that one, Yankee. Words matter, as does comprehension.

Because they thought a portion of the health code under which they operate allowed them to do it.

Why don't you offer to testify on behalf of the audit, since you know so much?

I don't know. Those in possession of the routers claim various personal details could be compromised. Did you read the thread?
Perhaps the subpoena is overly broad and needs to be whittled down to exclude that info.

Do you think the people of Arizona wanted so much of their private information in the hands of Cyber Ninjas from Florida?
Meemaw and Pawpaw's outrage over a stolen election pales in comparison to having their Social Security numbers stolen.
I would hope my government did its due diligence in protecting my personal information.

In Texas, there's a loan foreclosure and a tax foreclosure.
For loans, the foreclosure sale is handled on the courthouse steps, just like the tax sale, except the loan sale is handled by an appointed trustee and the tax sale is handled by the sheriff.
The loan foreclosure is separate from an eviction, in that sometimes the resident of a foreclosed property leaves the premises following the sale. Loan foreclosure sales are non-judicial in Texas (meaning you don't have to go to court. Possession is separate from a title issue, the latter of which does go to court).
All federally-backed home loans (about half of all such loans) have received a separate moratoriums through various federal agencies. I don't think those have been challenged.
At the sale, the bank usually "buys" the property because no one meets the minimum bid, and then they try to sell it later (hence, a foreclosed property for sale on the open market).
Sometimes the occupants stay after the sale (or leave stuff behind or don't contact the law firm handling the foreclosure to tell them they're leaving), so the agent of foreclosure deems it necessary to go to court and get an eviction and take legal possession of the property, which then prompts the constable to put their stuff on the curb.
That last part is what's been halted by the CDC. All of this started under the Trump administration.

But you see, I’m not sure he really believed any of that. The former president just found those issues with a groundswell, which stroked his ego.
When he started advocating spending trillions in stimulus, deficit be damned, just to get re-elected... then, I knew. He was liable to turn on any and every issue, depending on how the wind blowed. Those issues he advocated brashly and vulgarly got him a rock-star following. He misses that badly.

The sad thing about most of the responses to this is that they think this is about policy or ideology.
It’s about fealty to Trump and his six-month (and counting) “reee” that he lost the election.
I had kind of forgotten that the former President had screamed fraud and wanted a revote when Ted Cruz beat him in the Iowa caucuses.
Now Trump wants to destroy the American electoral system simply because he lost. Remember when he called the Electoral College “a disaster for democracy”?
Trump has no moral compass. The only thing that matters is stroking his ego.
His true thoughts sometimes slip out, like Vietnam veterans being “losers” because they weren’t able to avoid the draft as he did.
I can’t help but wonder what he thinks about the folks on this board, including me. It’s his arrogance (and ignorance) that caused me to support Cruz in the 2016 primaries.
Reject Donald Trump’s populist ego trip and let’s get back to true conservatism, folks.

re: TEXIT Bill (HB 1359) video/virtual testimonies - *PREVIEW* and Call to Action

The legislative session ends at the end of May. Generally, if a bill hasn’t left committee by the end of April (such is the case for “Texit”), it’s dead.
This alternative form of “committee” testimony is a stunt just like the “alternative” slate of electors that were being pushed by Trump. Both are outside the legal legislative process and are therefore illegitimate.
But keep those donations coming!

What in the hell are you talking about?
In Trump vs. Cruz, Donald Trump says National Enquirer has ‘very good record of being right’
quote:
"This story is garbage. It is tabloid smear. It came from Donald Trump and his henchmen," Cruz said, adding the report is "indicative of just how low Donald Trump will go."
quote:
"I don’t care. The National Enquirer did a story. It was their story -- it wasn’t my story," he said. "It was about Ted Cruz. I have no idea if it's right or not. They actually have a very good record of being right. But I have absolutely no idea. Frankly, I said, I hope it's not right.”

Trump also got his buddy at the National Enquirer to run the story that Cruz’s father was in on the JFK assassination in Dallas.
Does anybody remember when Cruz beat Trump in Iowa?
Does this sound familiar?

Several social media users tweeted screengrabs of an alleged deleted tweet from Trump’s official account, in which he said Cruz “illegally” stolen the vote.
“Based on the fraud committed by Senator Ted Cruz during the Iowa caucus, either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified,” Trump wrote

Unfortunately, the former President’s proclivity to slash, burn and throw everyone under the bus has made his window of support among fellow politicians smaller and smaller.
By the time 2024 comes around, he will have turned on all but a select few, like Mississippi or Oklahoma Republicans.
Everyone else will have been insulted into oblivion. Those who gritted their teeth, likeTed Cruz, are waiting to strike back.

What is your analysis on this?
Good for savers, bad for borrowers? I think with all the printed money being circulated and regular Americans taking it in the shorts on savings rates, this could be good?

Pfizer frequently points out that it opted not to take federal funds proffered by the Trump administration under Operation Warp Speed, the initiative that promoted the rapid development of Covid-19 vaccines.
I’d like to point out that former President Trump took issue with that characterization.
quote:
President Trump said on Friday that pharmaceutical giant Pfizer offered an “unfortunate misrepresentation” when the company distanced itself from Operation Warp Speed.
“Pfizer said that it was not part of Warp Speed, but that turned out to be an unfortunate misrepresentation,” Trump said in a news conference. "It was an unfortunate mistake that they made when they said that."
Trump was referring to a Pfizer executive's comments from Sunday about the development of the company's COVID-19 vaccine candidate.
“We were never part of the Warp Speed,” Kathrin Jansen, senior vice president and head of vaccine research and development at Pfizer, told the New York Times on Sunday. “We have never taken any money from the U.S. government, or from anyone.”
