But it was a gamble, and Jay is going to have to answer some hard questions about it. He obviously doesn’t care. Maybe he has great answers.
Jay doesn’t have to worry about anything! His #1 objective is to win the CWS! I’ve watched PLENTY of college pitchers throw 100+ pitches. That’s the nature of college.

We don’t lose many battles to OSU though (2007). We rarely recruit the same players. This is all NIL $$$…. As are most high profile kids recruitments. They outbid us for now. We’ll see what BK and staff decide he’s worth in their minds. BTW, where is this “mediocrity comment coming from? They play in a conference that’s won one more natty AS A conference the us. Pass what you’re smoking on this way buddy!

Perhaps you haven’t seen Tyran Mathieu, OBJ, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson and Malik Nabers lately? They are Louisiana born and bred and represent the state and LSU any chance they get. Hell, Nabers played in a meaningless bowl game just to sit atop the charts at LSU for receiving. All the while months away from being a top 10 overall pick in the NFL. OBJ was throwing money at the players after the 2019 title game. Texas if anything needs to catch up with Louisiana for state and school pride. The vast, vast majority of players in Louisiana grow up wanting to play for LSU. The same can’t be said for Texas. Especially with A&M, SMU, TCU, Baylor, Tech and other power 4 schools in the state.

He says hello every year when they send his annual buyout check.
Who’s old enough to remember the Busch challenge/Win Dixie showdown in the Superdome?

They should try and bring it back. It would give us some real completion to start the season.

I actually was wrong. He’s 31 though. For some reason I thought during FA he was 32.

Here’s a quick metric for you that encompasses everything it’s called WAR. He was 4.1 last year. His 2018 and 2019 seasons he was a 7.9 and 8.7. In 2022 it declined to 5.4. 2023 it was 4.5 and last year it was 4.1. He’s 32 and his advanced metrics are falling. As I’ve said earlier I’ve liked the Astros since the 80’s and Bregman is my 2nd favorite Astro but he’s not worth what he and Boras were asking for. At least not anymore he’s not.

I’ll have loyalty to pretty much any player that has worn an LSU jersey unless they commit some type of violent felony. Especially if they play for the Astros. The Astros were doing the same thing no fewer than 8 other teams were doing including the Dodgers, Yankees, and Red Sox. The cheating had no scientific data that points to it helping them. That’s the reason they stopped ON THEIR OWN. Dodger and Yankee fans are the worst with this. It’s been proven over the years those Astros teams and Bregman especially were just better. Bregman played a BIG part in that with his leadership and clutch gene in the playoffs. I for one love the way he handled the situation and talked his shite throughout. Just like a true LSU fan and player would do after being accused of doing something that at least a quarter of the league was doing and in all probability much closer two thirds were doing.

Carlos Beltran was the one to bring the sign stealing scheme over. He got it when he played with the Yankees.

As an Astros fan since the 80’s I’ll tell you Bregman is my 2nd favorite Astro behind Altuve. Breggys value for the Astros now was his leadership and defense. His 2019 season is not going to happen again. He’s now probably a top 10 offensive 3B compared to top 5 a few years ago. Paying him top money for a 3B is an overpay.

You mean Hankton? He’s a WR not a DE.

I grew up in the 80’s and early 90’s and that’s how you followed baseball back then. I can remember my dad listening to the Astros games literally everyday. I have a special fondness when I listen to the games.

re: Why is Texas considered a blue blood program in football

Lucky? You need to do what the kids say and cope harder. We had NCAA all-time greats on those teams. Todd Walker, Lyle Mouton, Paul Byrd, Brandon Larson, Eddie Furnis, Brad Crese, and so on and so on. In the last 35 years we have 7 nattys to 2 for Texas. Texas also dominated at a time when most programs didn’t take baseball seriously or didn’t have a program period. Since Skip Bergman we have more of everything than Texas.

You didn't give 3 examples of anything. You made up some shite and claimed otherwise.
Ohio St in 06 and 07 would have won a natty without a title game. They would have kicked the teeth in of the PAC 10 champs in the Rose bowl. Miami would have been “awarded” the 85 title if they didn’t have to play Penn St……Also, how in TF did ND win 6 nattys without playing in a bowl game? Do you consider that legitimate? Truthfully, I only consider titles won during the BCS/CFP to be legitimate from here on out. Don’t forget the governing body of CFB (NCAA) credits LSU with 5 national championships. So in all actuality we have more nattys than Texas in football and baseball.

Of course you would think it’s ignorant. You have no leg to stand on with your argument. You’re trying to say nattys during the poll era were somehow legitimate. Some were, while most were highly debatable. I gave you 3 examples and you can’t say anything about them so you deflect and won’t engage because you’ll look like the clown you are!

In CBB with the transfer portal and unlimited NIL, Cal has NO excuses! He is what he is, a good coach. He’s needs 7 players max to win a natty. Hes won exactly 1 natty! His priorities are screwed up. The “one and done” isn’t winning anyone titles! You need veteran role players to win it all and it seems like Cal despises older players who improve season over season in lue of taking “one and dones”!

I wish I could upvote this 10x100! Sark is the biggest fraud of them all! He took over two programs who are considered “blue bloods” with recruiting advantages and NIL that makes pretty much every team besides 3 or 4 pale in comparison. Personally, I’m glad Texas gave Sark a new contract. That’s going to age like Jimbo at Texas A&M. He’ll get them thereabouts but will NEVER win the big one. At least Kelly has an excuse! ND with their academic standards won’t win a natty for the foreseeable future as long as they hold firm on the academic standards. They will ALWAYS be outclassed and overmatched when it comes to the elite teams. Just like the last 35 years.

Awarded and winning them on the field are two completely different things. If it weren’t for the BCS and a title game Ohio State would have been “awarded” back to back nattys in 06 and 07. When in reality they actually won 0 and were curb stomped in both games. Same with the 85 title. If Miami doesn’t play Penn St in the bowl game they win the natty. A defacto championship game stopped them from being “awarded” a title they didn’t deserve.
