The 01 SEC title game cost UT a chance at Miami for the BCS title. This loss hurt way more the mauling Nebraska laid on us in '97...this and the Titans Superbowl are absolutely brutal to think back on.

LSU knocked us off our #2 spot with their backup qb, Booty. That's when the backup QB curse started and was also our last elite team (2015 was talented af but butch) The 07 team was good, not elite, but they backdoored into the SEC title game in what was a very average SEC east.

Edit: to the Florida fan, bigdgator, Ify. That's how I look back on our bowl games in Nebraska in both 1997 and 99 but esp 97. They were just dominant. I wasn't even mad...just disappointed. They were just better ngl
Coach's poll #1 finishes count in my book. And that year Auburn went undefeated (2003?) got screwed out of the title game, I'm totally okay w them claiming that.
Ngl, I wanna dislike this, but it's so true :(. I even start lying to myself ab our outlook in the wks leading up to the season.

NCAA 14 Conference Realignment fun

Posted by bigfrog on 7/30/21 at 3:56 pm
So I decided to hook the 360 up and download the most recent rosters and start a new dynasty to satisfy my thirst for football and with all the realignment talk, I did my conferences a little differently than I usually do. For those that don't know, NCAA 14 is limited to 16 teams, and conferences must have at least 4 teams w independent needing 1. Those are my limitations. I'd just like to see others ideas on ideal conferences. All power conferences have permanent division crossover games.

I know this isn't realistic as teams will never leave a more profitable conference to go to a much lower paying one where they can be more competitive. With that said, I did factor in things such as no religious schools in the PAC and AAU requirements for B1G members (idk if ND?? is, but their academic prestige precedes itself). Financial standing and market pull was also considered, and that's why SDSU and Hawaii landed in my PAC for example.

New powerhouses could emerge from not having to get beat down every week. For example, I think Arkansas, South Carolina, Miss St, and Arizona could rise to dominance their respective conferences and be flagship members in this setup.

Obviously irl 16 prob won't be the stopping point. They would need automatic bids and a tiering system for conferences to reward playing in more challenging conferences, and I've considered that. If I do the playoff mod, idk how I'd do 12 teams, but this is based on a 12 team playoff. The remaining 2 bids go to the remaining highest ranked teams.

NONE OF THIS IS MEANT TO BE INSULTING TO ANY TEAM. I'M JUST HAVING FUN. I used the preseason outlook that's updated to 2021-22 season using operation sports rosters, so I didn't rank the teams myself. Courtesy of OutrunFire0290 on Xbox.
