Eosinophil
I will check his test results to see if they did that one
The Eosinophil count will be in the CBC but that won't be diagnostic of eosinophilic gastritis. That test would involve counting eosinophils in the gastric lining, also the symptoms are much more acute than autoimmune gastritis. Really, the antibody tests will be your best bet if they haven't been done.
re: Did you ever meet or have a number of years with your great grandparents?
Posted by armsdealer on 3/11/25 at 9:18 pm
Ah, the greats. There was a theme, young teen female with older non teen male... never met a great grandfather but great grandmothers were around. One mean as all get out, another was nice but dementia grabbed her from an age I could remember. Lots from that generation on my fathers side still lived in Italy and were alive, but I never met them.

These dumb fricks don't understand what an autoimmune disease is.
What is scarier, there are doctors don't understand autoimmune diseases... they don't know how to diagnose them... and they don't know what tests to order for them.
What tests where run? That can tell you a lot. You can figure out if they have a good idea of what is going on or if they are throwing shite to see if any sticks.
Autoimmune gastritis really is usually not bad as far as I know, however what I do see are other autoimmune conditions develop in people that already an autoimmune condition.
Here are links to a couple of tests that are diagnostic for autoimmune gastritis, and to help see what to look for in the their chart, the other options are a histology exam of a biopsy, but I am not familiar with that side of things.

Mental gymnastics
Courtside club?
Posted by armsdealer on 3/8/25 at 7:31 pm
Can anyone tell me how the experience with access to the courtside club is? It says food and drink is included, and well, with the Pels record these tickets are slipping into my price range and I am wondering how the experience is. What food is included, etc.?

I got plants one year, back when they took imprints of you CC, that fricker tried to max out the card. I ended up with free plants because the CC company just denied everything.

It's virtually impossible to collect a medical debt, if you didn't agree then its not a valid bill.... so use that how you will
re: Anybody go to the Bacchus ball? Apparently Shaq was not a great king.
Posted by armsdealer on 3/5/25 at 5:28 pm
Shaq's people are pretty up front about how much time you will get from him when you hire him. It's 30 minutes for his DJ gig, and that isn't 30 minutes performing... that's a total 30. I am sure there are other arrangements, but I have heard they are pretty up front.
re: Colonoscopy.... How do you drink that stuff?!?!
Posted by armsdealer on 3/5/25 at 5:21 pm
The numbers seem to indicate that colonoscopy's are not the best SCREENING test, and there is more research that points to the polyps being removed is actually unnecessary. There are some new lab methods that can better screen for colon cancers and other cancers in general but getting approval is going to be SLOW. Hopefully we start trials soon and I will just have them run my blood, it is detecting pancreatic and colon cancers 5X better than the current methods we are using. Going from 15-20% detection to 90+ is a game changer.
You will never have the guy that makes most of his money performing colonoscopy's to not recommend them... GP's don't know enough. New lab methods are coming... between FDA approval and doctors not trusting hard data it might be decades before recommendations change though.

They make it seem like he has super rare blood... he just had anti D. Lots of people make that after their first transfusion.
re: Psa AK47 gf5?
Posted by armsdealer on 2/28/25 at 6:22 pm
With ammo prices the way they are the AK has lost some luster for me. The PSA GF5's are fine, $600 can be a good price but blems have been in that range new.

I have been impressed with the Ninja all clad knock off.
Between that and cast iron you would be set.

Because they are using the nuclear option to contain bird flu...
Say we had a new illness, lets call it COVID. When it shows up in a new community we decide to kill all the people and burn the bodies.
That is how we treat bird flu.

Hmm, wonder how yall feel when you find out why we use 98.6 F as our standard body temp.

High quality drugs in appropriate doses is better for you than alcohol. Now if you would have said meth, yeah meth is nuts.

“Institutions” got a bad name but it seems like things have gone to the other extreme. I’ve seen people in local Facebook groups post about people with mental illness who they can’t manage and they don’t know what to do. And if people do “institutionalize” their kid/sibling/parent there is a huge stigma.
There really are no great options out there, especially if you aren’t wealthy.
We really need to determine the underlying cause of autism (not to derail the thread), but the rate at which it has increased over time is insane, and I don’t attribute that simply to changes in our definitions or diagnostic testing.
We have a non verbal autistic child. Right now he is mostly manageable, however, if he were the size of my oldest son there is no way we could manage him safely. As of now we don't do vacations, we don't do much away from home, there is NOBODY that will watch him. He has been kicked out of programs designed for autistic and disabled children because he is too much for them to watch... well WTF, you think we have some special training or super powers?
No idea where to go if he doesn't improve and gets bigger. The options are literally drop them off at the ED like it is said here and let the state deal with it... but you can't see them again or have big money to do a home with 24 hour care and check out privileges for the parents. We aren't poor, we both make livable incomes, but you need to be rich to afford these places. Ah, and the making decent money thing, we make too much to get any help and not enough to afford help. It's fricked up.

I get to do science. I get to save lives. I don't actually have to see the people I help save. I really enjoy work most days, but it is still work so some of the stuff sucks and some days suck,

Yes. The way our justice system works, so many of the misdemeanors were actually not crimes at all that got plead to misdemeanors because the state was threatening felony charges that they couldn't prove in any court.
