Im leaning that way. The state health dept has very explicit rules for decommissioning a sewage treatment plant.
1. Pumped out by a certified waste water company.
2. Remove lid.
3. Fill with dirt.
4. Pay the state for a certificate of decommissioning.

I am building a new house in St Mary Parish outside of any city limits. I have access to water and sewage. I am building on property I currently am living on. The property had 2 trailers on it at one time and they each had their own septic treatment plants. Because the new construction will be about 500 feet from the road where the water and sewage is, I am not required to use the sewage and I could use a sewage treatment plant. There are a couple already existing with state inspection stickers and legible numbers on them. They are just missing aeration pumps. Can I just have them reinspected, add the missing aerator, and run a line to them? Or, because they were never properly decomissioned am I opening myself up to fines and what not? They are both full of water right now.
