re: Big difference between republican and dem conventions over the last 20 years.

When republican presidents leave office they disappear
Come on, man. Ron and Nancy were the patron saints of the GOP long after they were able to even make public appearances. Then they started having appearances from Reagan's children.
The Bush family does not support Trump, and 2016 marked the first RNC convention with no appearances from the Bush family since 1976.
If the GOP had any living former Presidents who supported Trump, they would have been speaking at the convention.

Fake News. Why do y'all continually fall for this stuff?
The news clip is from 2021, discussing a committee proposal that went nowhere. I saw that same clip circulated 2 years ago.

1. Implement his previous energy policy. Gas and energy prices come down and eventually prices of every day goods slide down too.
I'm not sure what energy policies he could implement to lower oil prices right now. Resume construction of the Keystone XL pipeline so Canadian oil can get to Houston faster??
We are pumping oil at record rates, and our refineries are at full capacity. Even if you convince oil companies to expand their refineries, they aren't coming online overnight.
Trump was really good at sucking up to the Saudis, though. He got them to increase production early in his term, and got them to cut production during COVID. Maybe he can get them to open their spigot again (which might hurt our oil companies, but gas prices would come down).
And even if our energy prices come down, the price of everyday goods will not follow. There may be a few exceptions on some products, and maybe more sales and rebates, but deflation is not happening.

Great healthcare for Americans.
He got rid of the insurance coverage mandate, and worked towards lowering some drug prices. Good things to do, but I'm not sure that equates to "Great Healthcare".
Our healthcare system is still seriously broken.

Achieved a secure border
You should rephrase that. Our border was more secure under Trump, but it wasn't secure.

Restored American leadership across the world
That one is hard to quantify, but I don't buy it. Isolationism dies not create leadership. Withdrawing the US from treaties and threatening the stability of NATO just makes us untrustworthy.
Thst said, I applaud him for getting our NATO allies to pony up some cash.

We actually need you to explain how he actually did this. Setting aside climate change issues (which he had a terrible record on, but who cares?), what did he actually do?
FTR, I don't support either of the candidates this year. At all. I cannot see how anyone is excited to cast their vote in November.

Well this would come as a major shock to Moderna that has said that their vaccine has a 1 in 3800 chance of causing myocardiatis
Pretty sure Moderna did not day that, since Moderna continues to say occurrences if myocarditis and pericarditis are very rare following the vaccine.
I really question where that 1 in 3800 claim comes from, and I couldn't tell from following the link, and it's links.
Most recent studies have the increased risk of myocarditis in young males recriving the vaccine at about 40 in 1 million, which is 7 times lower than the risk in unvaxxed young males who contract COVID.
But still much higher than Oliver's 1 in a million.
Anything involving one's heart is scary, but the majority of these myocarditis cases are easily treatable with anti-inflammatories and rest.

YES IT IS, JUST A DIFFERENT NAME!!!
its Dominion!!!
Dominion and Smartmatic are not at all the same company, and there is no evidence that Smartmatic software is used in Dominion machines. This is the same nonsense from 4 years ago that never panned out.
But Smartmatic was used in LA County, and Biden "won" LA County by over 70%. Doesn't take a genius to connect those dots!!

And now that case is on is on its last legs.
Before the GA indictment was ever filed, Ellis had already admitted to the CO bar she had lied about the election. She didn't really have much choice in the GA case, because they already had her admissions in hand.

She went to Guatemala and told would be immigrants to stay home.
Her exact quote - and I'm not making this up - was. "Don't come! Don't come!".
She probably uses that phrase a lot.

re: Kamala gets enough delegates to secure Dem nomination — despite never winning a primary
Posted by Dday63 on 8/3/24 at 7:57 am
The only person who won a Democratic primary was Biden, so once he stepped aside their candidate was going to be someone who never won a primary....unless the Post is suggesting Hillary should have been installed.
I'm not defending Kamala, that's just a dumb headline.
I still think the Dems should have gone with a brokered convention. They're going to lose, anyway, but throwing Harris to the wolves while pretending everyone is excited about her is sad to watch.

Reopening pipelines closed by Biden (so we aren’t dependent on other nations for this. Again, you knew this already)
Which Pipeline did Biden close? I know he stopped construction on Keystone XL, but all that is supposed to do is bring Canadian crude to Houston (technically, Nebraska, but from there it goes to Houston).
You want to stop American use of foreign oil, you first need to build pipelines to the West Coast. No one is proposing that.
quote:
Drill (this reduces the cost of energy)
We are currently producing more crude oil than any nation in history. Seems like the more we drill, the less OPEC drills. We can't use the oil ourselves because we don't have the refining capacity.

Based on his first term, do you really think that is Trump's agenda?
