I do find it amusing an LSU fan is talking shite on other teams, given how well you all have performed against expectations.
Boston College is undefeated, and if Castellanos gets healthy, they're going to be a tough game for everyone in the ACC.

I also think Vandy is going to play a LOT of close games this year with Pavia That kid is a stud and winner. Also, their defense is much better with their HC Lea calling plays.
You can have that many play, but you're not going to have 4-5 studs. I think it's great that Cook made it a point to talk about 3.
Adding OU and UT was a brilliant move, and I hate both institutions. Quit thinking about the immediate contract and think about the future. It's a 100-year decision. ESPN may not have upped the anti this contract. But as streaming becomes more and more relevant, more competition is going to enter the CFB market. With the playoff, it's going to make interest in the sport explode. And the dollars will follow. We're in an era of CFB unlike anything in our lifetimes.
Absolutely not. No one is leaving the SEC. Mizzou athletics is humming in a way I've never seen in my 43 years... at least, in terms of financial support and momentum.

IMO, the only way the SEC expands is by offering UVA and UNC... It gets them into markets where they don't have schools. I know that's not as valuable as it was 12 years ago; however, those are two top-notch institutions that would also help inventory.

Yup, I hate UT more for being prima donnas that destroy every conference they walk into. It was beyond irritating how the Big 12 allowed them to steamroll the conference constantly.

I will say, OU might be #1 based on fan interaction alone. They definitely like to stick their noses up in the air at programs like MU. I was at the '09 game, and found that quite enjoyable. I hope the Tigers pull out a similar victory this year.

I'd be lying if I wouldn't enjoy both programs suffering unexpectedly bad seasons.
I've read the first and last pages of this thread, and that's enough... OP is a troll. Those taking shots at him are wasting energy.

Mizzou is damn happy to be in the SEC. We're a cultural fit for just about any mid-American conference. St. Louis is very rust belt. Southern Missouri is just as southern as many areas of the South I've visited over the years.

Very true... I know tons of union guys who are happy to do side work, even in other trades, which would cost others work.

That said, as I said above, I don't have anything against them. But they obviously can be as corrupt as any other business or organization. To mandate someone must join one in order to secure a job is inherently un-American to me. If the union is doing its job, and protecting those its says it will, people will pay their dues. If they don't get anything out of it, they won't. That's only right...

One last point: Yes, economic growth is stronger in RTW states for a reason. In this economy where it's easier to move than ever before, business doesn't want to work with many difficult unions. They'll move elsewhere in a friendlier environment.

Take my company for example. We host trade shows all across the country. We purposefully avoid union strongholds like Chicago because of the unions. They're so oppressive that its decreases the efficiency of our shows, and dramatically increases the expense. We take our business elsewhere.

Just because you vote "yes" for Right to Work doesn't mean the unions immediately disband and become void. They simply are going to be held accountable, which every entity should.

Furthermore, regarding training, they won't stop. By the way, you don't need a union to get trained in just about every trade I know of. Non-union shops are training young people all the time. Then, they have to take the same licensing tests as those in the union.

re: Mizzou vs Kansas 2017 recruiting

I'm pretty sure, from what I understand, they told the young man he had a very legitimate shot at starting immediately. He's not doing that at MU.
I appreciate what RockM Nation does, but it's foolish to try and value each position when we have no idea who is starting. And we're dealing with almost an entirely new staff.

Regarding last year, the line suffered due to a multitude of reasons:
1. Recruiting. Pinkel and staff simply whiffed their last several years. They only brought in two or three OL in those classes. That's simply not enough. Many who they did recruit left (injury, whatever) or simply weren't talented enough...

As an aside, I'm very happy to see Odom's philosophy on OL is much different than Gary's. Gary preferred lean, highly athletic kids. He then counted on our strength staff to bulk them up. Well... That didn't always work. Odom is bringing in heavy bodies, which I love. IMO, it's easier to strip bad weight and build up good. But at least you have a big athlete used to playing at a large weight... and he has the build to lean on people. That's the way of the SEC. Big bodies. No more power forwards playing OL.

2. Schematically, Mizzou's OL looked to be a disaster. It's hard to point exactly what it was because I don't have the time to breakdown game film, but you simply could tell the execution was poor when plays would breakdown. Let's not forget, as soon as Ricker came back, we immediately had issues with snaps, too. Just so many issues when he arrived, which is shame because he was a good player. But it goes to show that not everyone who plays can coach.

3. Henson should get a bulk of the blame on this, too. His play calling was awful. Odom hinted at it in his SEC Media Day presser -- he said we need to get more creative offensively. That's the damn truth. Henson was so boring, so predictable. When you have a deficiency at a position (like OL), you MUST scheme around it. Focus on getting rid of the ball quickly. Vary up the formations constantly. Lots of motion. Keep the defense from reacting immediately. None of that happened under Josh... It's telling how poor of an OC he was, that now he's simply an offensive assistant at OK St, which is his home school. His star has plummeted.

........Now, I'm hopeful for this new staff. I was very much impressed by what Embree did with this Arkansas State OL when we played them last year. They were technically sound. They played us pretty damn well, given how much less athletic they were than our impressive front... If you remember, we didn't put a bunch of pressure on them. Sooo, I'm hoping he can teach up our better athletes to perform. One thing I AM confident about is Josh Heupel will be a better play calleer... He has to be. He was a QB and did very well at OU. I suspect he'll be able to scheme around our weaknesses better.

At least... I hope. We'll see in a few more months.
I've got a lock for you. When the Vols come to Columbia, MO, bet heavy on the moneyline on ole' Mizzou. The Tigers stomp that stupid arse orange every year. And they will again.
The bars are far from downtown? I don't even think it's a mile walk -- and it's flat. So, you're either old or a fatty rolling around, which wouldn't surprise me given your home state.

By the way Columbia, MO > Gainesville, FL. A group of us went last year to Gainesville and were really underwhelmed.

There's a reason why Columbia has soared up lists of top SEC towns from many of the mainstay SEC reporters. It's a great town. Easily walkable. Tons of bars. Good times.
