re: Is Texas in the same situation as Indiana?
Posted by NEMizzou on 11/19/24 at 1:46 pm
Texas has a weak schedule for an SEC team this year, but it's all relative. Even with that schedule they would be 1-1 against playoff caliber teams, and Indiana would be 0-1. Vanderbilt and likely Arkansas are better than anyone Indiana has played.

It wasn't put out to confuse anyone (well at least not anyone other than folks on the rant); it was a random weirdo affiliated with no one who was having a slow day. Mizzou's main beat writer said it wasn't even worth checking into, and he thinks Cook has a decent chance to play anyway.
If SC makes it to the 4th string QB I think they're more likely just to direct snap the ball to Luther, which honestly would at least be more entertaining than throwing a true freshman to the wolves who is not close to being ready to start in this league (and definitely not against this front four).

re: Wait is Mizzou Oklahoma University rivalry actually a thing?

"Rivalry" isn't the right word for the football series...but Mizzou fans generally despise OU, mostly because Mizzou has gotten their teeth kicked in the majority of the series. Same deal with Nebraska...I don't think Mizzou fans thought of Nebraska as a rival, more just we hated them because they were really good and Mizzou...was not. The idea that Mizzou has a decent chance to win this type of game now gives it a lot more juice on the MU side; plus Mizzou has lately become a thorn in OU's side on the recruiting/transfer side.
Basketball had a legit rivalry, particularly during the 80s and 90s when both programs had all-timer coaches.

Owning a photo lab can make you really, really rich apparently.
Best part about this is it's $50M for the North End Zone and $12m for what is essentially an NIL endowment.

South Carolina isn't even the best Carolina.

If we were still in the Big 12 he would have a few regionals under his belt, but the SEC is such a meat grinder that you can be pretty good and still have an awful conference record. Mizzou invests by far the lowest amount of any school on baseball and honestly I don't think Mizzou has really been the worst program on average since he got here so he is really an overachiever relative to the investment. If they don't make a regional this year he probably gets fired but I don't know that he should unless Mizzou plans on investing in baseball, which seems insane with the climate we deal with and the conference we're in.

It’s Nick Bolton.
If he doesn't score there Philly may be up 17 at the half. Still not convinced he shouldn't have had a 2nd TD...

If we're in 4-team pods where all four teams play the other 3 every year, I think you'd see OU, UT, Arky and Mizzou together.
If we're allowed 3 permanent rivals, but we're not locked into 4-team pods and MU plays 3 teams (say including Arky) but Arky can play 2 completely different schools, then I'd say Mizzou would prefer to play OU, Arky and Kentucky.
I think Mizzou is locked into Arky (whether each side likes it or not) and the Big 8 fit with OU is almost a certainty. I like playing Carolina and I like playing Kentucky, but Kentucky is geographically more relevant and they seem like great games no matter what.

it was a whole damn section of guys in dresses. WTF?
Is there an explanation OTHER than Mizzou being a really effed up institution of higher wokism?
The explanation is The Antlers have done that for years...historically it has been one game per year and it was always kansas; I was honestly a little disappointed when they didn't dress up for the game this year.
They would always walk around from section to section pre-game and lead that section in all sorts of obscene chants that you definitely couldn't do today. Simpler times...

It's not politics, it's Enos Kroenke being the cheapest billionaire on the planet. If he thinks he can squeeze ten cents more out of the customer he's fine being branded an a-hole because of it.

I don't suppose it would be easier to run a gas line for the dryer instead of 220V electric...if you have gas close you could swap out for a gas dryer. I'd be looking for just about any other solution before spending that to move a washer and dryer. Yeesh.

meh. Don't get me wrong, it is a big loss. But Mizzou gained more than it lost last year with the portal; Wingo was a big loss but pickups to the rest of the defense ended in a net positive...just have to do that each year.
And if Drink isn't tampering the same, he's not trying (which is why he hasn't really complained about this as far as I have seen)...

re: Best way you’ve found to play NES games?
Posted by NEMizzou on 11/28/22 at 4:56 pm
Outside of an original console on an old CRT, I think an FPGA system is your best bet. If you're just interested in NES games you can get a RetroUSB for $200 here, and it's as perfect as it's going to get. It has ports for original controllers and HDMI out. Pair it with an Everdrive and you'll have every NES game ever produced, with flawless accuracy. Without using a CRT there will still be some lag but this is a lot better than a Pi-based system.
If you're wanting to do more systems than the NES and are OK with a huge learning curve, look up the Mister FPGA. That's what I have and it's kind of amazing what it can do. But it's not anything close to plug and play.

I get that Melinda Dillon might not have been interested/able to play Ralphie's mom, but I'd just as soon had them not have a mom in this one rather than swap her out...just so jarring.

Ahh yes. Leave it to a liberal to demand a private company become a non-profit because it impacts their wallet.
How is he demanding? Isn't this how capitalism is supposed to work; King isn't saying Twitter can't charge $20, just that he has no interest in the platform if they do. I get that $20 is less than a pittance to either of these guys, but if folks drop their checkmarks and I can't tell who is real then Twitter will lose me as a user (which is no big loss, but still).
