During the latest episode of his "Always College Football" podcast, host Greg McElroy took a stab at predicting the 12-team College Football Playoff field and the National Champion in 2024.

McElroy has five teams from the SEC making the playoffs. Per SDS:
quote:

“I really think the SEC’s depth and the fact that you’re gonna have a bunch of teams with pretty dang good records and resumes is going to have them well positioned.”
Here's his 12-team field:

1. Georgia
2. Ohio State
3. Miami
4. Utah
5. Oregon
6. Texas
7. Alabama
8. Penn State
9. Notre Dame
10. Ole Miss
11. LSU
12. Memphis

As for the National Champion, McElroy is picking the Ohio State Buckeyes to win it all.
quote:

“I’m taking the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the national championship in 2024. They have, I think a super dynamic run game, the defense has a chance to be elite, and I still believe that the offensive line, even though there are question marks, I still think the offensive line is gonna be plenty good enough with Chip Kelly calling the plays and the run game to be able to complement what they want to be on the perimeter with super talented weapons that they have wide receivers. The Ohio State buckeyes over the Georgia Bulldogs for the national title.”

#3 is automatically the team that is highest ranked out of the winner of the Big12, Pac12 and the ACC (assuming SEC and Big 10 are 1 & 2). I don't know who you think is going to win that race but Miami seems to have as good a chance as any of them. I like Kansas State for the #3 spot but I wouldn't put the rent on them. #3 seems a crapshoot.

Georgia isn't finishing first. They'll be in the playoffs, but beating Bama, Ole Miss, and Texas all on the road is a tall order.
