Get out of a conference due to nil
For example, if Texas is going to go all in nil does a team like vandy say enough is enough and get out of the sec? We can’t remain competitive

Not as long as they get a share of the SEC earnings

Arkansas, Miss State and Vandy are likely going to get the boot. Texas is still deciding about some others and will tell Sankey what to do when a decision is made. aggie is on the bubble.

Will they? They've already waved the white flag and are happy just cashing those distribution checks.

ESPN will likely address the ratings albatross that is Vanderbilt at some point.

There's some kind of salary cap coming. How soon, I don't know.

They announced one just last month.

Schools can pay present and former players. I think it's $20M a year.

Why would they leave? They don't expect to win. The SEC is like a cash register to them. They ring the bell and take the money.

This is dumb.

If they do, it won't be by choice

I think some will choose academics over athletics. Harvard used to be a football powerhouse but look where they are now athletically.

However, I think the NIL will eventually simmer down a bit. People are going to start getting pissed at paying for tickets, donating for capital improvements and then fork out even more money to pay players who stay for a year then bolt to another school.

Eventually restrictions and or contracts will come out of this. Sure, there will still be small market and large market schools like the NFL but the wild Wild West of NIL will come to a close shortly.

I don’t know if they will get upset. The younger generation just pays for what they want, don’t worry about saving for a house, or money in general. And live day to day. Continually surprises me. I’m m not sure NIL will actually settle down

No SEC school is getting the boot. There isn't even a mechanism in the SEC to just eliminate some school arbitrarily. And no school would voluntarily leave and give up that much cash every year.

Once each school has to revenue share with their players, will NIL even be as crucial as it is now?

They would have to change the conference bylaws and I believe it has to be unanimous. The only way a team can be kicked out is if they fail to field a team.

So, this idea is dead on arrival.

Johnny come lately doesn’t call the shots to kick out charter members. You don’t even get to make the call on kicking out a hot dog vendor.

You just want vandy out because you have a losing record against them. You are .500 against state as well.

Can’t beat ‘em so you try to force them out….SAD!

For some reason I thought there would be a salary cap and that it would be partially coming from TV money?

That’s what it should be anyway. Boosters shouldn’t have to pay for these players. It’s stupid. TV is making shite loads of money off the players. They should shell it out since they’re benefitting the most. Boosters aren’t getting shite except the faint hope of a natty.

For most schools the boosters will eventually get tired of shelling out big money for unproven 18 year olds. Rich people didn’t get rich by throwing away cash with nothing in return.
