This is more exciting for me than basketball because LSU doesn’t suck, but I agree, honestly. It’s not even easy to find game updates unless you know what to look for. I had my girlfriend try to find what time the LSU UNC game was yesterday while we were driving and she literally could not find it. You can’t get it on reddit streams very easily either, like you can with basketball or football so I had to pay for fricking ESPN+ again.

I gotta thank this board for partially getting me into the CWS. This time 2 years ago, I was wondering why people actually gave a damn about it. I get it now. It’s a good product. I’ve really enjoyed watching all of the games this week. Shoutout to the champ streaming all this stuff from YouTube. frick paying for ESPN+. Gata looking like they’re gonna hang on.

Outside of Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas and a few of the Midwest and northeast cities, not that many people watch college basketball regularly.

You’re in the CWS? What time are you suiting up?

College baseball ratings are way up this year and I’m willing to bet it will be the same with the tournament. It’s definitely growing in popularity.
Like I said and got downvoted for…….

The big difference is most CBB programs make money. Most baseball programs don't. Even Arkansas and LSU baseball lost money.
Revenue
Arkansas Baseball: $5,617,093
LSU Baseball: $8,648,852
Ole Miss Baseball: $10,192,493
Expenses
Arkansas Baseball: $8,289,600

Ole Miss Baseball: $10,026,367
Mississippi State Baseball: lost nearly $2.3 million

Baseball is just a boring sport to watch.

Baseball is better live than on TV. You can see all the subtle things going on. That said, I’m one those people who will watch the CWS more than March Madness. I enjoy baseball way more than basketball. NBA is almost unwatchable these days. As I’ve gotten older sports are fun to me but not important. I will watch Auburn games but not much else unless a find a matchup interesting.

Because baseball is cerebral....it is nuanced unlike basketball and football. Its fun to play, not so to watch for a sizeable portion of the human population. Its also not TV friendly.....football is tailor made for TV.

The remainder of the world get super interested in college basketball in march
I know I am not in the majority but I find college basketball less entertaining than watching the grass grow. I enjoy the NBA, can't watch more than a few minutes of college basketball. Just the opposite when it comes to football....

The average person does not have the patience for baseball. The world has sped up a lot since baseball’s heyday. With TikTok and reels people are being entertained in less than a few minutes now and they have to wait three plus hours for the payoff from baseball

You are right. At baseball games, everyone is on their phone. I don't notice that so much at football games.

Being on the terrible ESPN+ app doesn't help.
Most of the college baseball games wouldn't even be on TV without the ESPN apps,

ESPN doesn’t push it. I can’t understand why they push softball so hard but not baseball
Because unlike most collegiate women's sports, college softball is watchable and entertaining.
It's a mix of advocacy and practicality. Whether or not ESPN should feel inclined to force women's sports on the public that really has very little interest in them is a fair debate. But once the decision is made to do that, and ESPN certainly has done that - then softball is a good option to throw support behind. And with the marketing blitz they do on softball and the reality that the softball tournament can be decent for casuals, you get reasonably good viewership.
ESPN at least gets some revenue from from a W sport and they get to virtue signal.
