They only recently allowed women in the school at all. A&M has a weird dislike of all things female.

I think Aggie actually has a cheerleading squad to compete in cheerleading competitions and such but they don't actually appear at any athletic events or do "cheerleader activities."
They let the milkmen handle all that.

I don't know what it is about phallic pictures and aggie fans, but y'all sure do enjoy posting them!
But please, tell me more about something that happened one time on our campus vs. your university's most celebrated tradition (not involving sheep) that is an every-day occurrence

A&M is obsessed with tradition, it's that simple. We hate to move away from tradition and the Yell Leaders are a bedrock tradition.
A&M was basically all male and all Corps and small for the first 85 years of our existence. Since 1970 we have changed drastically and are one of the largest schools in the country (esp considering there are virtually no commuters) with about a 50/50 male/female ratio. Every year things change because of that and we adapt.
That said having Cheerleaders on the sideline is inevitable and will be a great thing. Back when I was in school the Yell Leaders would lead Yells constantly between breaks in the action. Now you have a DJ and videos that are doing most of that job and virtually everyone thinks it's much better. You have a Dance Team that is prominent at Basketball games and they hold the flags at the football intro. There is a competitive cheerleading squad that has won national competitions.
So the next step is actually having the cheerleaders on the sidelines. The key is going to be figuring out how they work with the Yell Leaders in a way that makes sense and honors tradition while also letting half the student body have a representative on the field. Personally I think that happens within 5 years.
Or were you looking for the "because we are gay!" answer?

The student body (majority women) could vote on women as yell leaders.
They don't, because at A&M, we know its best for men to be in leadership, not women.

The guys that fired the cannon? That's literally all they did.
the milkmen at a&m, on the other hand, have... more interesting traditions.

Tell me you don’t know about your university without telling me you don’t know.

Depends on the sport. For football, it's just the Yell leaders. To be honest to make it work they'd need a boatload of cheerleaders to make it work for football though since the student body is spread across the entire field (Not that you'd be able to see them much though since students are usually on 2nd and 3rd decks, as opposed to most stadiums like LSU where you guys get shunted into the endzone.
If you want to be close enough to watch college chicks bounce around though, I'd suggest taking your 300$ and going to a local titty bar. At least one of them will be putting herself through college and may even don a cheerleader outfit for ya.
Since you're an LSU fan, I'd suggest going during the day.

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

There's a difference between tradition and ignorance.
