You have to take every state as a whole and consider the entire picture. Louisiana’s lack of topographical features and low-lying areas hurts it significantly. Imo, it’s Louisiana, Oklahoma, then Mississippi then Florida. If it wasn’t for the beaches and volume of beach area, Florida would be dead last.

I was born in Louisiana and live in Georgia. Georgia is an absolutely beautiful state, and if you get outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana can be, too. Georgia has mountains, ocean, swamp...it's beautiful. I dislike Atlanta, a lot, but it's not an ugly city. You get outside of the big city and Georgia is knockout gorgeous.

Louisiana is called the Sportsman's Paradise for a reason. Good hunting and fishing as well as college sports. Swamps can be beautiful, too. The worst thing about Louisiana (Baton Rouge, mostly) is the oil refineries belching out toxic gases and smoke.

Oklahoma is more known for being a pretty blah, flat state, but even that is false. Just goes to show you, that you really shouldn't comment if you don't know what you are talking about.

Yea can a state known as Sportsman Paradise really be the ugliest?
The Atchafalaya Basin is the biggest swamp in the country and very beautiful.
The coastal marshes which take up the entire coast are very pretty imo.
I’ve spent most of my life hunting and fishing the basin and coastal marshes so I’m bias. Those 2 features are very different from basically any other state due to the sheer size of them.
Not sure the ugliest bc they all have some beauty.

You could say either MS, LA, or AL. I think OK takes this title come July 1 though
I wouldn't say Alabama is ugly at all. LA and MS are flat and green. There's nothing ugly about driving through lush green. Oklahoma?

Oklahoma has four mountain ranges and lots of very scenic woodlands.

The funny part about all this is that Oklahoma is the most diverse state in the SEC in terms of ecosystems.. Tied with Texas (or one behind depending on the source) with one third the land mass. And no other state in the SEC is even close to those two.

Unfortunately for Oklahoma... easily the ugliest ecosystem is also the largest one and takes up about one fifth of the state.

But there is a little bit of a lot of different types of land in Oklahoma.

Out of all the places to live in Georgia you picked College Park?
That's on you.

Probably Florida. Not that it's a bad place to visit, but the natural beauty is kinda lacking, especially south of Gainesville

Not gonna lie, UGA jokes aside those pictures are friggin bad arse. I’ve only been to Atlanta and Savannah (Savannah is beautiful). I’ve been all over Oklahoma and for the most part it is an absolute joke. One of the most boring vanilla states I’ve ever been to.

Love the cypress trees man. Those are my favorite trees. My family is obsessed with them. We have a few cypress cookies hanging up on the wall at my dad’s hunting camp in Louisiana. A few years ago, a 1500 year old cypress tree about 100 yards from the camp got struck by lightning. Really sad.

Also sad that the yanks came down and cut down most of them a few hundred years ago, but I digress.

The Texas panhandle isn’t that bad. It’s rugged and windy, but has some nice features. One thing I enjoyed there were the evenings. It would be 100F on a hot summer day with no humidity, then regularly dip down into the 60-70s with nice sunsets and a steady breeze. Winters could be odd. The occasional blizzard would dump 2ft of snow in your driveway and two days later it would all melt off lol. Went sledding a few times. Just gotta avoid the mesquite, yuccas and cacti. The only place in Texas I avoid like the plague is West Texas. Specifically anything around Midland/Odessa. It’s like being on Mars and always smells like benzene.

I have no problem with Oklahoma, but this isn't true at all. To say this, means you know nothing about Georgia. It is very diverse land wise. Mountains, lakes, ocean, wet lands, swamp, forest...I think the only type of land Georgia does not have is desert.

Same with Alabama. It’s one of the most diverse states and is similar to GA in some ways. Alabama has the foothills of the Appalachians running through the North East to Central part of the state. The Shoals in the Northwest, and of course the Alabama coastline. The southern wiregrass area and black belt region isn’t much to look at I’ll give you that. Alabama is a lot of things, but ugly isn’t one of them.

Per the interwebs: “ The four states with the largest level of biodiversity are California, Hawaii, Alabama, and Texas.

It is true. Oklahoma has more level three ecoregions than any other state in the lower 48... except for California and Texas.

I guess you don't know about ecoregions...

LINK

quote:

There are 7 level III ecoregions and 44 level IV ecoregions in Alabama and Georgia (Georgia actually has 6 level III) and most continue into ecologically similar parts of adjacent states.

quote:

In Oklahoma, there are 12 level III ecoregions and 46 level IV ecoregions; all but twelve of these level IV ecoregions continue into ecologically similar parts of adjacent states (Chapman and others, 2001, 2002; Griffith and others, 2004; Woods and others, 2004). Oklahoma’s ecological diversity is strongly related to its varied climate, terrain, geology, soil, and land use.

It looks like a city in the state of OK didn’t make this list. There were cities in the SEC states of LA, GA, SC, TN and TX.

At the end of the day, America is a beautiful country. Where we choose to live and vacation are based on our tastes and preferences.
