Although the increase is very modest, at least Georgia isn't reducing seats like so many across the country have done.
For 2024, the official seating capacity for Sanford Stadium will go from 92,746 to 93,033, an increase of 287 seats. This is due to some remodeling/renovations to the media/press box, premium seating locations and additional concessions and family restrooms added.

Because 80k fans in a 100k stadium looks so good, right UT.....

At least Sanford doesn't resemble some erector set built back in the Stone Age like Neyland does. What an UGLY stadium Tennessee has.

Every mega stadium would be better off dropping 10k seats to increase comfort for fans.

I would be just fine with dropping to 92,455.

92,454 is out of the question though

5 year average attendance
Tennessee: 92,709
Georgia: 92,760
You have more empty seats than UGA has.

93k people huh must be a down year for the team for attendance to drag that low.

Hopefully they've also increased the wifi capacity beyond dial-up AOL speeds

It isn't like Neyland Stadium has always been big. It has been less than 30 years since it went over 100K. For the decade or so before that, it was virtually the same capacity as what Sanford Stadium is going to.
Remember...Tennessee did their biggest expansions between 1972 and 1996 (from just under 71K to over 102K). Back then, not every game was televised, and tickets weren't ridiculously overpriced (so expansion was easier). In this environment (along with the demand for Skyboxes/Suites)...Neyland Stadium capacity has actually dropped in the last 20 years (from 104k back to just under 102k).
Neyland and Sanford aren't that far apart anymore (based on SEC stadium capacities today):
Of the 25 Largest FBS Stadiums as of July 2024:
4) aTm - 102,733
5) LSU - 102,321
6) Tennessee - 101,915
7) Alabama - 101,821
8) Texas - 100,199
9) Georgia - 92,746
11) Florida - 88,548
12) Auburn - 88,043
16) Oklahoma - 80,126
18) South Carolina - 77,559
20) Arkansas - 76,212

Just want to get this argument straight.
Over a 5 year period where Georgia won back to back National Championships, and Tennessee was recovering from the worst decade in the history of the program...Georgia averaged about 50 more fans per game.

Ha. Thanks for pointing out that UGA is only 51 seats better than Jeremy Pruitt.

You really don't understand statistics do you? UGA was > 100% and UT was 90%. Just because UGA never raised capacity of their stadium is a null point. UGA's cup was spilling over while UT's cup had room at the top.
