LSU has got to put more offense behind Paul Skenes tonight. Need some crooked numbers on the board early to better support his pitching performance.

Looking forward to this game, Fla-Tenn, Ole Miss-Ark

Friday night is not the ideal night to put up crooked numbers since you are going against the other teams best pitcher. It doesn't always work out that way, but in general you should see the least amount of run support on Friday (or Thursday in this case).

They are up against Will Sanders who literally lost the Friday job a few weeks ago

That happens sometimes. Our Friday ace was named co- pitcher of the week 3 weeks ago vs Bama with a complete game shut out. Last week he gave up 8 earned runs in 1.1 innings to Auburn at home. We were down 8-0 with only one out in the top of the 2nd. How is that for some Jekyll and Hyde?

Yes, you are going best on best that first night.

Against A&M, Skenes pitched 6 innings, LSU plated 2 runs in the 1st and 2 runs in the 2nd and won 9-0.

Against Arkansas, Skenes pitched 7 innings. Arkansas struck first for a single run in the 4th inning. LSU didn't score its first run till the 8th and lost late 3-9.

Against Tennessee, Skenes pitched 7 innings, LSU scored 2 runs to take the lead in the fifth and answered back with 3 more runs in the third to win 5-2.

When LSU's offense strikes first or answers back then of course things improve. Against Arkansas in gm. 1, LSU had 4 LOB through 7 innings, compared to Arkansas' 3.

So you are saying LSU has a pretty good chance to win when they give Skenes a lot of run support?

Well...doesn't have to be a lot runs but have QABs, get some lead off runners on, bunt a guy around if necessary, and answer back when score on.

As we are about half way through the season (depending on each team's post season) I just wanted to give these two guys some props because they have been so far out in front of everyone else. Dylan Crews and Paul Skenes.

Batting avg
1. Dylan Crews-LS .531
2. Charlie Condon-UG .449

Earned run avg
1. Paul Skenes-LS 0.81
2. Hagen Smith-AR 2.35

To currently sit over 80 points above the #2 hitter in the conference is outstanding, as is being over a point and a half better ERA than the 2nd best pitcher.
I can see them possibly going 1 & 2 in the draft.

Now hopefully this jinxes the hell out of them and they both go in a funk the size of Texas.

Just kidding LSU fans, they are doing it at a super high level and I hope the rest of the conference can elevate their respective game to give them some stiff competition as we get into the later part of the season.

Crews' 26 game hit streak came to an end Tuesday night against Nicholls.

Hopefully, that'll make him "jinx-proof" from this point on!

Don't be bringing no hit streaks up against the Colonels!

Baseball is a funny game sometimes.

That's what Tennessee said last year until they ran into Kentucky.

This series is maybe the most important series for SC in a decade. If we get swept then the start to the season feels like it was all for nothing. If we take 1 we feel good, but know we arent quite back yet. If we take 2/3 or sweep, Gamecock baseball will be viewed as fully back by Gamecock fans.

I mean - is anybody ever really a fan of DH? They really cripple pitching. But you gotta do what you gotta do to get the games in.

Exactly. And LSU has already showed a willingness to do it on day 1 in our series 2 weeks ago against Ark even though it meant sacrificing the national TV exposure.

And the short week excuse doesn’t hold up either. Both LSU & USC had Thursday starts last week As well. So is this week really shorter?

Yes both teams have Game 3 starter issues this week but at least LSU named a starter. It’s just a long way to travel and not be all in on getting the games played.

Wow, it’s crazy to think they have only been playing these series since 1992. I would have thought it went back further than that.

Another unfortunate thing about the weather and the quirky schedule. It’s been a long time since we’ve gotten the peak Founders Park environment. I was looking forward to seeing it packed again.
