I did see the play. What should the ruling have been?

Then acknowledge the shitty call by the refs.
I would have appreciated that as well. Instead we got the sports version of a legal disclaimer.

Only because immediate wrongly whistle blowing ensued.
This is the correct answer.

They posted a rule in a tweet that no one of note is actually going to look up. Then they said something completely different in person about why it wasn’t overturned. It’s clearly all spin to cover for their mistake. I’m not sure why you all are trying to convince yourself that it played out accurately. It can’t be changed and you’ll keep it forever but don’t try to act like it wasn’t wrong.

Premature whistles happened. Refs fricked up
That's the bottom line....
So, why the bitching about anything else?

I actually htought this was the case live.
The whistle blew and the ball was still squirting around for along while. An Arkansas guy did eventually get on it but well after the whistle.
In a perfect world the refs wouldn't have blown the whistle and it would have been Hogs ball.
But given the play looked really weird and the whistle was blown, this is the right call by the letter of law.
Still sucks for Arkansas, as they got boned by the refs, just in a different way than they thought.

Well at least ESPN rules expert said replay should have overturned it.
Lol....at least Arkansas looks to be moving in the right direction.

Let's not forget that AU still has Gus and Chad roaming the sidelines.
Who really won here?

Everybody knows the refs blew the call. The SEC made that statement for all of those bitching about how replay should have gotten it right. The SEC office is saying............replay did get it right.
What's the point of replay at all in this case? Replay can reverse calls, correct time, correct yardage, and on and on. But it can't overturn some dumbass tweeting on a freaking whistle of all things?
A shite call and a whistle cost a team a big road win. That's an issue with a system. It's meaningless if replay can't make the right call.

The whistle blowing had nothing to do with it. After the replay review they called it intentional grounding. They never called it a backward pass/fumble during the game. If they had called it a backwards pass then there would have been no ten second runoff and they would say “IT WAS A FUMBLE” and spot the ball accordingly. Now they’re just trying to cover their asses with this whistle crap. If they had ruled it a fumble, there was continuing action which negates the whistle.

Auburn players and half of Arkansas didn’t “give up” after the whistle. Only a few Arkansas players realized what happened and knew the ball was still live.
Those auburn players were standing around because they thought the play was dead regardless of the whistle.

I also think the ball should have been spotted where it came to rest further back.
Things I learned today. Arkansas fans are too stupid to read and understand a rulebook.

Wow Arky people are next level dumb

You know all I gotta say is this team even in a loss is better than anything Morris put on the field in two years. They played hard and competed until the end. I like our direction. Good game Auburn

Watch the play.
An Auburn player was right on top of the ball bending over to pick it up. An official came in blowing his whistle and giving the incomplete sign. The Auburn player stood up. The Arky player went for it. The ball squirted forward,. The same Arky player then went after it and possessed it.
It was a horrible job by the refs on the field. Replay can't overturn it because it wasn't one whistle. It was multiple refs calling the play over and Auburn players stopped playing.
Posted on 10/11/20 at 7:10 am to Mfdtiger
Well the intent was to just spike the ball. That was clear.

We got fricked. Regardless Arkansas is no longer a doormat. Ole Miss or A&M or Tennessee, somebody is gonna get dicked down by Franks.

I agree. The refs on the field booted the play from the start.
Nonetheless, replay couldn't overturn it.
Game changing plays are missed by SEC refs on an almost weekly basis. They aren't always at the end of the game. That is why this one stood out. We have the worst officials in the nation, IMO.
