I don't troll or rarely ever post (because I know Tennessee will find a way to make me eat crow).

Anyway, I am very happy how our program stood up to the Hawaiian mafia and now he is in a shite hole situation making half as much for a 2-10 team..

But so are we - our fans are celebrating this new Joey Aguilar commitment only because we are low key hurt. Lets be honest.. it's like breaking up with your hot girl friend and no matter what your rebound looks like - you will lie to yourself and in your mind think you upgraded..We didn't.

Dissappointed we couldn't throw some moonshine money and get an established P4 QB.

Moral of the story is what the hell has happened to the best sport in America? I am just not excited anymore - College sports needs structure now because this bs is going to drive away the common man. NBA brand died with the woke BS - college football is next with the wild west prima dona bullshite.

Typical whining. The sport is not dead for the common man. The common man who is a UCLA fan is happy that they upgraded from a nobody QB to a QB who was a top recruit and led a team to the playoffs last season. For every transaction there is a winner and loser.

You guys never seemed to say the sport was dying when 10 teams signed 70% of the top 100 national players. Now that other teams can recruit the same player pool suddenly the sport is dying because you are not fan enough to watch a 7 or 8 win program instead of a 10-11 win program. Most college fans have been watching and supporting 7 or 8 win programs for decades. Welcome to the club. If you bail, you bail and we will have no problem mailing fun of a half empty Neyland like you guys have been making fun of the rest of us.

Kid abd dad fricked up tremendously. The difference in cost of living and taxes between Tennessee and California make it to where you would need to make almost twice the money in California than you would make in Tennessee to equal the same take home amount of money after taxes and factoring in cost of living.

He would have took a pay cut going to ucla even if they paid the same amount of money Tennessee was paying him

It’s not just about the money now that we see how it ended. He obviously wanted to get closer to home and play with his brother so he asked for the moon from Tenn and was told no. He probably expected them to say no.

As an Atlanta guy, I’ve seen this happen a lot. GT has gotten a lot of players under the portal who wanted to get back to the metro area for a variety of reasons. Granted these may not be the stars getting huge bucks but after a year of having family traveling a lot to see you play, etc, suddenly all the garbage spewed in the recruiting process goes away. Then you realize it’s all just noise and overblown so players transfer.

And Nico transferred to a major media market. It’s not like he went to some no where school. He went somewhere where eyeballs will be on him.

Evidently, you tried to call his father to negotiate and he wouldn't answer. So you just quit.

Were you one of the guys throwing a party when you broke the rules recruiting him and then took the NCAA to court?

You never know how these pickups will turn out.

We traded a 4* for a 2* when we went to Kyle Trask and he was one of our best QBs in the last quarter century.

We then went to a future #2 draft pick who just wanted to get to the NFL and our team was worse off for it.

Then Graham Mertz, a castoff, played a great game manager and we upgraded by taking the worse QB.

You don't want someone like NICO. He was never going to take y'all to a championship. Championship teams are teams that have to work together.

Not saying you'll have an upgrade on the field but you're definitely better off as a program.

Sure but after twenty five years of this I'm starting to feel a little bad for them.

At least until LittleDickWhiskeyBottoms returns with a new name.

His brother signed with Arkansas before Nico transferred to UCLA.

UT did not “make a stand”. Nico’s people informed the staff that he was going to transfer and then UT said they were cutting ties.

Agreed. College football isn’t close to dying. It’ll never die.

I think Tennessee won, or at least made out better for their program.

They are paying less for a guy who will probably have better production, but less potential. They had Nico 2 years, if he had a good year he would leave anyway (and based on this season, he might leave in a year no matter what). He wasn't coming close to his potential, and he was handcuffing the offense by being the main focus.
Aguilar won't be expected to be great, so there will be more diversity in the scheme. And he still will probably have a better statistical year than Nico did last year. And what's more, he will probably be thrilled to be on a playoff contender, unlike the guy who just left.

What rules were broken? What happened was the NCAA tried to implement some retroactive rules that didn't exist at the time of his recruitment. But then - surprise, surprise - tried to charge us for violating non-existent rules.

Not everyone is celebrating, beaucoups of idiots on Vol Nation are convinced Aguilar is going to be backup to Merklinger. Like Aguilar agreed to come to Knoxville, Tennessee, to waste his final year of eligibility as a backup to a redshirt freshman …

Well said. That UGA walk-on won two National Championships. Tennessee won its last championship with Tee Martin, not Peyton Manning. Teams win championships.
