I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone visiting Mississippi. Maybe this is Alabama people “visiting” the casinos?

With as many casinos we have along the borders, I'm surprised we aren't higher. Family vacation wise, we don't have much though.

Does this include the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico? If so, this number makes sense.

Surprised to see Ohio at 12 and it makes me wonder what they mean by "visited". I live 3 miles from the border... not sure if that's what they mean, but I visit at least twice a week by some definitions

I would guess the casinos and beaches are a big factor Mississippi.

I'm not sure actually. They mention tourism numbers for a couple different states throughout the list, but it's not clearly defined as to what that actually means.

Ya if I'm driving thru several states to get to a destination does it count as a visit? What's methodology here?

Snowbirds and spring breakers stopping at South of the Border to piss shouldn’t count as “visiting” the state.

Charleston is better than anything the state of Louisiana has to offer let's just be honest here.

It mentions "tourism" multiple times in the article so it can only be assumed that simply "driving through" the states would not contribute as a visit.

And even Beaufort

For a little state tourism is huge

Seeing Arkansas ranked below Oklahoma is surprising. Nothing against Oklahoma but Arkansas is much more scenic, with some of the best state parks in the South.

OKC has Bricktown which is probably more than anything Arkansas has.

I hate Arkansas.
