This is the way but for some reason people here have convinced themselves you can't.

Now is a high profile player going to intentionally sit out a year? not frickin likely....

I mean UCLA is probably a 6 win team with Nico at the helm so it should be good for some laughs

He must be taking a massive pay cut for UCLA. I guess they have Tino Sunseri who is a great QB developer, but that’s a bottom barrel P4 team to go to, and they are going to get their arse whipped this season, not a great schedule if Nico was planning on going pro

They actually kind of came on last year and were sort of scrappyish. Sort of. Like they sucked, but they won a few at the end.

They had a 5 game run of Indiana, @LSU, Oregon, @Penn State, Minnesota that was about as rough a stretch as you're gonna see, and then won 4 of the last 6. So maybe there's hope for not getting murdered. But they're probably gonna lose. I could see 8-4ish though if their defense is good.

They arent winning 8 games

Its not even that their schedule is a murders row, its that there are so few "easy" wins on it, UCLA is not talented enough to repeatedly win as a underdog. And most of the teams they are similar in talent too, they play on the road

I dont see how they make a bowl:

Utah
@ UNLV
New Mexico
@ Northwestern

Penn State
@ Michigan State
Maryland
@ Indiana

Nebraska
@ Ohio State
Washington
@ USC

UNLV
New Mexico
Northwestern
Maryland?

Don't see much else there.

Thats all I see as well, and maybe Utah. If I were a UCLA fan I wouldnt feel too comfortable going 2-0 against UNLV and Northwestern since both of those games are on the road

Its really a pretty average schedule overall, for a meh team there are just few easy wins

Nico will have plenty of time to find his next team when they are eliminated from bowl eligibility in late October/early November

If they win eight games against that schedule Foster should be Coach of the Year.

8-4 for COTY against that wouldn't be nearly enough, there are 8 teams on that list that *could* end up ranked, realistically 4, and maybe 5 of them will be

Oklahoma and Wisconsin have the two hardest schedules in the country, especially relative to the year they are coming off. I dont see a way out for Wisconsin, I could see OU being a surprise team with how much talent infusion they did. CBV would not be a bad long shot COTY bet

I get you … my post was more hyperbole in reaction to the guy in the other thread who thinks they’re going to do something.

That flew over my head, I've been missing football since January ended

Defining season for LSU, either we win 10 games or we are fricked. Resource wise there is not much more we can do for CBK and if he can't win with the roster he has (which is top 10 talent composite), he needs to go, but his buyout...

As a pure fan of the sport, Im excited to see how some of these programs I personally think are underrated roster wise will pan out. Talent composite matters a lot, as everyone on this board knows, buts its fun seeing the under recruited/hyped scrappy teams do well

There aren't many gimme's.

New Mexico and Northwestern are probably easy dubs, but that's a lot of 35/65s or 40/60's. They'll get some. I thought they were looking a little salty after the murderer's row run in the 1st half of their season, but that's a struggle for 6-6 unless they really pull something out of their arse.

You're right though. 4-8 is far, far more likely than 8-4. My B.
