honestly I had no idea Bama was that bad

It's not, and neither are the other schools. We've discussed ad nauseam how subjective these ratings and the metrics they use can be, especially in terms of traditional (or conservative) values.

One of my favorites a few years ago was the rating that factored in the number of lampposts and security callboxes on campus as a real weighted portion of the score for each university considered.

I personally know more than one (literal) genius who attended Mississippi State. And we all probably know a mid-functioning imbecile with an Ivy League degree. (Alabama has both, and everywhere in-between, by the way, just like real life.)

To me it's like arguing about what makes a good movie. Is the Marvel franchise successful because it's blockbuster cinema that made a billion dollars, or is an A24 film better because it's an independent thought-provoking character piece?

What do you value? What does the author value?

You are the one advocating for ranking schools instead of colleges.

We have that in sports, the directors cup. Stanford won it 2023. But people don’t consider them national champions in football, baseball or basketball. Texas won it in 2024. But again, no one considers Texas national champions in football, baseball or basketball.

Ranking schools instead of ranking colleges within a school is like crowning the winner of national championships off of the directors cup rankings. It is a stupid idea.
There's nothing wrong with comparing overall excellence of institutions, in sports or academics. You're thinking way too hard about this.

If you got a degree in the humanities during these last 15 years you probably just paid for some expensive brain washing

The average GPA for incoming freshmen at the University of Alabama for the 2023–2024 school year was 3.87. 69% of students admitted had a GPA above 3.75.

Academic prowess ranked by a bunch liberals, doesn't mean much.

Does this help Vandy in football on the field? Or any other school for that matter?
