LSU has declined an invitation to participate in this year’s NIT, LouisianaSports.net has learned. A spokesperson cited the team’s current injury situation and limited available players on the roster as the primary reason for turning down the bid. The SEC receives two automatic NIT bids that are awarded to the top two teams in the league that did not make the NCAA Tournament. With a record 14 SEC teams earning NCAA bids, that left only LSU and South Carolina available for the NIT. South Carolina also declined their NIT bid.

I wish SCAR had accepted. It would have been fun watching them terrorize teams with winning records.

Both need to swallow their pride and go. Easy experience and it doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's just the NIT. No one cares.

The following schools declined to play in the 2025 NIT:

Butler
Florida State
Georgetown
Indiana
LSU
Nevada
Northwestern
Pittsburgh
Providence
Rutgers
South Carolina
UNLV
Villanova
Wake Forest

the 2025 Not Interested Tournament

declining the bid was the biggest win of the season for Gamecock basketball - more so than beating Texas & Arkansas -

Paris needs to recruit and chase the portal - not waste time with a roster that won't be together for next season -

I think we have gotten away from the reason we play college athletics.

Easy experience

Doesn't matter in this era of college sports, unless you mean more experience for the coaching staff.

absolutely - NIL & unrestricted free agency have killed it - the Rev sharing model and "clearinghouse" for NIL that kicks in this summer isn't gonna restore college sports either -

the players and their agents/reps aren't gonna let that Genie get put back in the bottle -

Lamont Paris' job hinges on making the NCAAT - and winning more than 2 games in the SEC - he's not gonna keep his job by playing in a post-season tournament that its sole purpose now is to generate $$$ and inventory for ESPN while CBS rakes in millions -

It is kinda cool if LSU and USC accepted that all teams were invited to postseason play even if the NIT is a joke. That has to be an extremely rare circumstance where a 16 team league had 14 teams @ NCAAT and 2 @ NIT. Just sucks LSU was the arse end of the joke in basketball this year.

I think South Carolina is going to be booting players quickly and the NIT just delays the inevitable.

Word was LSU was not going to have enough players to play. It was down to 7-8 players at the end of the season.

Recruit some of those WBB players to help out, if you're shorthanded.

Didn’t Kentucky get embarrassed by Robert Morris in the NIT awhile back?

This is the most overplayed (and retarded) 'joke.'

LSU coach doesn’t want to be their anymore and is trying to get fired so he can get that buyout and ride off into the sunset.
