It's like they just skip over the fact this came from their website.

The release also noted that, had the game not been played, neither LSU nor Florida would have been eligible to play for the SEC Championship Game because they would have not fulfilled the requirement of playing eight conference games. "The SEC Commissioner's Regulations requires each football team play all eight conference games in a season in order to be eligible to compete for a divisional title and play in the SEC Championship Game," said the SEC in the release. "Had the game not been rescheduled, Florida and LSU would have been ineligible to compete for the SEC title this season."

I don't think anyone was aware of this rule... Foley implied as much in his press conference. You can tell from his comments that he wasn't aware of that rule prior to this situation.
I think this rule coming to light is what got the game rescheduled and pretty much forced Florida's hand in the end. Lets be real ... At least this season, the SECCG is certainly a more realistic goal for Florida than it is for LSU.

Well, you're wrong. The thread where I talked about it a cpl days ago is linked on the previous page.
And I knew about it because I read a link that was posted on, of all places, the TigerRant a day or two before that.
Just no one wanted to believe it because it didn't fit their agendas.

I don't doubt you saw it or knew it, but I would imagine most didn't. And that clearly included Foley given his comments on it.
The majority of people assumed it would go to winning percentage, just like all other sports and standings.

If a poster on the tiger rant found the link and then I read it, you can be sure that the AD of an SEC school knew it. I'm sure they all know the guidelines for scheduling and eligibility. Esp one who's been around as long as Foley.
C'mon, man.
Regardless, it's a moot point now.

ok so Titus was wrong about UF not going to BR, but I would never have imagined LSU giving up next's year home game for this year, that can't possibly help their coaching search, but Titus was right about everything else in thread. Yes, Titus, David Smith was injured week 2 of that year, but was healthy and a very good qb, by the end of the season when Bama spanked aTm. I even remember seeing a sign that read "the yellow tide". Meaning Bama was scared because their starting qb was injured. I just wonder if any of you LSU fans that flamed him are willing to admit he was right.

Naw, they specifically asked Foley Thursday if he knew about the rule prior to this week...He said he didn't.

Admitted as much in the stickied thread.

Unnecessary. I knew I was right. If it was that important to me I would have looked for the link. I am glad that someone else found it though.
Thanks.
And if you want to get get technical I was also right that no rules or schedules of other teams would be changed on behalf of either team and that the game would be played on the weekend of the USA game, if it was played at all. I was just wrong about the location. I didn't see UF giving in and going to BR. But I guess they didn't want to risk LSU not coming to Gainesville and then UF being ineligible for the SECCG. LSU had them by the balls there.
But like I said, whos right or wrong isn't important.

Yep. That's what is going to get LSU the finger from a top coach NOT wanting to come coach here.

I remember you and daddy, Genro, were pretty sure the SEC were going to make LSU play this game on the 19th in Gainesville.

I didn't think the SEC would "make" anyone do shite.
I did think that if the game was played it would be in Gainesville, and I knew it would be the 19th, if it was played, because as I said, no one else in the SEC was going to rearrange their schedule for UF & LSU.

Hey Gumps I'd be concerned with ATM 1st. Then a revitalized Tiger team.
If you have delusions about the NC this year just remember playoffs 2 years ago 12 guage. OSU coming for you again.

Believe me, aTm is much more of a threat than that train wreck called LSU. Do you think having to go on the road to Gainesville in 2017 and 2018, is going to help LSU in their coaching search? LSU gets a home game in a season it has already lost two games, fired a coach, and has almost zero chance of making it to Atlanta, instead of getting a home game in what may be a better season in 2017 or 2018. UF got out of playing LSU when their starting qb is injured. Then they get LSU to give up next year's home game. LSU needs a new ad, this one got taken out to the woodshed. The most amusing thing to me is to read all of the post today from LSU fans who actually think they won. Now I ask you this. Who is delusional?
