MLB clubs on the other hand have every incentive to develop kids and promote them through the minors as quickly as possible.

Yea but if the kid didn’t sign for $500,000+ they get about a year or two to put up or shut up and then get kicked to the curb like an old recliner.

Then they’re all of a sudden 20 years old, unemployed, girlfriend left them, and they’re a freshman with no eligibility left.

Whether or not a MLB team would invest in a “blue blood” program like LSU or a lesser known program (who needs more NIL $$$) would make it interesting.

I think LSU would be in good shape with the big travelling fan base.

Nah, it has more to do with the proposed salary cap system. That being said, with more college players I can see doing away with rookie or A ball. It’s also less risk overall for ball clubs. Get more accurate scouting evals against top competition. Thats a big reason why NBA did away with HS draft players and more recently G-league. As for how it helps college teams idk. Obviously signing a A-rod or Bryce Harper would be tits tho.

I think the opposite. Yes some teams will be really good but it will come down to development and so much talent spread around.

Coaches salaries will ramp up, at least for programs who care. A track record of sending guys to the Show will become more important. Top pitching coaches are really going to demand a lot of $$

I don’t want to start another topic or try to make this SEC related, so:

Would the legal minds of this august site explain the Antitrust exemption that MLB holds?
Thanks! I’ll hang up & listen

OKC has always had a Triple A team. When I was younger... people went to watch them because there wasn't that much else to do. We still have one... but in OKC there is now enough to do that sitting through a minor league game isn't near as appealing as it once was. I don't even pay attention to our minor league team... much less go to their games. The only time I even hear about them is if I'm watching local sports on TV. You don't even hear about them on local sports radio unless something unusual happens.

Very similar in Nashville. So much to do. Now with the stadium downtown, they still draw well, but it’s more about a gathering spot. I’d say 75% of the people there know none of the players and are completely indifferent to wins and losses.

I work a block from the stadium and I went to all of 2 games last year. I have a few friends that live in the Memphis area that say pretty much the same thing about their team.
