My memory may be off, but it seems most recent SEC football coaching searches took a few weeks. What recent coaching searches were concluded in less than a week? Any? How long do they normally take?

It depends on whether anyone wants the job or if you want to pay double.

I guess it depends on the situation

A while. There are a lot of moving parts on both ends. It's comical to see people expecting this to happen overnight.

Pretty much all of them take longer than 72 hours.

This timeline was stupid. They probably went in thinking Lanning would immediately jump at the job and that would be that.

6 weeks to land Saban, 5 weeks for LSU to get Brian Kelly, 4 for Auburn to get Freeze.

Most schools have university rules they have to follow.
I know LSU, even though they might have a handshake deal with someone, have to follow rules of other employment searches

Saban called it quits all of a sudden because he couldnt take the rejection in recruiting. Bama wasnt even aware of it. Total rug pull by Saban. Absolute betrayal.

Bama insiders behind the scenes are scrambling to find some to fill the those little elf shoes. Everyone knows the juice isnt worth the squeeze. Bama is in trouble

If nobody on your shortlist (4-5 names) bites, some schools will hire an outside firm like Korn Ferry to conduct a search for what Bama wants, vet the potential candidates and set up interviews through their agents. Could take weeks, but typically no more than a few days. Assuming Bama doesn't already have someone and keeping it secret for who knows why...I'm thinking names like Lance Lieopold and Chris Klieman get the tires kicked at least.

Some States require State colleges to post openings for an amount of time before filling. They also have to interview X number of candidates.

I don't get the 72 hour time line at Bama. Why make a rush decisions based on what the current roster might do. Make a decision within reason that's right for the program. 72 hours is unreasonable.

Do you have any input on how long coaching searches normally take? How long did the Auburn search that landed Harsin take?

It’s fun to follow the bama coaching search also kind of funny the ncaa with FSU’s former AD and ESPN owned Disney stick it to fsu. I’m sure the current circles in tally picking a fight with Disney taking away it’s own water district and stuff didn’t help at all ect.
Y’all see Jimmy patrons and Ashley moody going all out from their “serious “ jobs to stick up for fsu football?
The state legislature have tipped the scales for them so much over us for decades without our sissy butch uaa ever fighting back that I find this to be hilarious even tbihhh they are totally fricking with fsu for the hell of it cause bama and uga told ESPN and the ncaa too.

Beyond that our program is such. Joke following everyone else is more fun lol
