Max Olson tweet

That seems like an absurdly high number.

I hope it's true because situations like this will kill NIL faster than anything else.

Nothing can kill NIL. The courts have ruled that the NCAA cannot legally forbid college athletes from signing NIL deals.

That’s an absurd number for a QB that’s never taken a college snap.

And I’m aware Bryce Young had multiple NIL deals (worth over $1 million) before his first start in 2021. But at least he had been in a college program for a year.

No freaking way there was a signed contract for $13 million… I refuse to believe that.

If these kids are signing NIL CONTRACTS then there's a problem.

Idk how you think e rose ent teams work, but there are contracts

Obviously thisnis just a labor contract though. The NCAA said you can’t tie your NIL to playing for a school and now a player is refusing to play for a school because his NIL money is frickingnup.

“Kill” is a bit strong but these types of things will help to slowly regulate the market. We will begin to find out how much is too much for an unproven HS qb, how involved and how many lawyers really need to be in on these deals, how stable are deals when it comes time for pledges to be paid in full, etc

It’s actually a relatively healthy case study for NIL as a whole to eventually normalize; people have to frick up and be ridiculous for the rest of us to find out where the boundaries really are

ESPN said Arch Manning is leading the pack this year with $3.4M, and that's above existing players including those in the CFP championship game.

Madness.

Because isn't the purpose of NIL to pay kids for just that... their name, imagine and likeness and not a contract. Because if these are contracts then why are kids allowed to basically void them at will by leaving one school for another? Unless these are year to year deals.... in which case, NIL is nothing more that pay for play.

How do you think endorsement deals work?

A single party in the House can’t play nice enough within itself to elect a Speaker in a timely manner. Congress is going to struggle just to pass budgets over the next 2 years, they’re not touching college football right now.
