Florida's bump class is starting to look like our 2013 class which was a total disaster and probably cost Richt his job in 2015 because of the attrition and lack of depth it created.
Yea but all the transfers they got will make up for a little bit of the their recruiting failures. Unfortunately for them transfers are only a temp fix, so Mullen better figure out this recruiting thing

He's gonna have to make staff changes for that to happen

It doesn't have anything to do with the staff. The powers that be don't want to do what it takes to get to the top of the recruiting game. We will never be in the top 5 in recruiting again. If we win enough games we can get in the top 10, but that is about it.

I agree that cheating like crazy is a big part of what's going on.

Seems like a bad strategy to target recruits you know have a sketchy-at-best chance of getting accepted. Maybe a Florida fan is tracking this, but it feels like they've got like 73-75 people on scholarship. That's an entire side of the ball missing and hurts depth in practice and in games.

The problem it creates is it reduces the margin of error Florida has for the typical 12 game regular season with regard to injuries and suspensions. All of a sudden you have to burn redshirts you don’t want to burn to make up the difference which results in you being unable to sell immediate PT to the next classes because you have a bunch of freshmen and sophomores out there playing for injured upperclassmen or guys who should have been there but didn’t qualify. It snowballs pretty significantly if you’re not saavy enough to manage the roster numbers. Richt wasn’t and I guess now we will see if Mullen is over the next couple of years

According to Twitter, Florida’s 2019 class would have dropped to #17 from #9 with this latest ineligibility. That puts them between Notre Dame and South Carolina

I’m not worried about this year. I’m worried about 2020 and any Gator fan that isn’t is wearing O&B shades hard.

From another board:
quote:
geez. How many guys from that class are actually on the team this year?
...
They're down to 19 players remaining on campus of the 25 that signed. Steele and Jones have already transferred. Henderson, Black, and Hammond are all JUCO. Wardrick Wilson is still waiting on getting a visa that will make him eligible.
That takes their 2019 class from 9th in the country with a score of 276.85 to 17th with a score of 252.45 - that's only 5 points better than South Carolina.
Now, they did manage to add Cox, and they'll potentially add other transfers, but the issue there is that with waivers becoming less likely, and at least in Cox's case a year of eligibility already used, there's a good chance he may only suit up for them for 1 year and just try his hand at the draft. Kelvin Joseph another who could potentially look to do the same. In that scenario, while they might get one good year, they also blow an IC slot and a spot on the 85 man roster for guys who can't play for a full season. Mullen's going to have his hands full trying to manipulate roster numbers for a bit if they don't get all of their 2020 class to actually enroll and stay on campus.

ooops...was buried at work all day.
Damn UF you guys really know how to close a talent gap. Now...when do we hear about the suspensions against Miami?
quote:
AUG 16: 2019 4* WR A. Henderson declared not eligible to enroll at UF
To date UF's 2019 class has lost 6 total players. Two players to transfers, three who failed to qualify and one who can't get his US Visa in what was the 9th ranked 247 class. Removing the five players that will not be on the team this year UF would have been 17th in the 247 recruiting rankings and 8th in the SEC. (257.73 - 21 commits)
The gators current 2020 class sits at #13 in the 247 composite with 18 commitments and a 89.93 player average which is good for 6th in the SEC. UF is quickly closing the talent gap with the top of the league.

I agree with this, barring injuries or suspensions it's not a big deal this season although the depth is an issue at some positions. 2020 is a critical year in recruiting for UF.
