First they came for the Three Daves, and I did not speak out — Because I wanted more than 2 camera angles.

Then they came for my Saturday Night ESPN crew, and I did not speak out — Because I was fine with change.

Then they came for my family — and there was no one left to speak for me.

Frick you ESPN.

Frick you SEC Conglomerate Money Making Machine.

Frick. You.

All anyone cares about is money anymore. "College football" no longer exists, now we have pre-NFL minor league farm systems with contracts and free agents being whored out to the highest bidder for the right to broadcast it

I still love my team and the specifics of that, but enjoyment of college football as a whole is just much harder these days.

Agreed. I am going to a couple of games this year because some friends asked us to but otherwise I will be watching them at home with the TV on mute.

The two angles line was hilarious. The thing I will miss most about CBS is the opening theme.

It's a really weird thought for me to think about the CFB my toddler son is going to grow up with. The old folks in my family grew up with CFB in the 60s/70s/80s, so even during my coming of age with the sport in the 90s/00s there were some pretty big differences. Specifically a lot more night games, facilities beginning to be bigger and better, more nationwide recruiting (yes I heard complaints as a kid about getting too many guys not from GA lol), etc. But at the heart of it the game was still pretty much the same.

The sport I grew up on is going to be enitrely different than what it will be 10+ years from now. I kinda hate it.

in all seriousness i don’t know why y’all care that much. Once Verne left it wasn’t the same. And once Gary leaves it will be unrecognizable.

Fowler and Herbstreit do a good job IMO. Only thing i’ll miss is the music. Certainly won’t miss the commercials.

The money is why we see every game played. Maybe you are not old enough, but there was a time when you were happy if you got three games on TV a year. And that's if you were a top ten team.

My biggest fear is it all just becomes part of the ESPN machine. Just part of the cog. Same shitty cameras, same shitty secondary crews, everything looks the same graphics wise.

CBS had faults, but they treated the SEC games like they did their NFL games - but with SEC specific people. The cameras were top notch, all that stuff.

yeah and evewry game was at 1pm. I'm aware.

Money is also why we have unlimited free agency. And endorsement deals. And holdouts. And recruiting based only on money. And conference expanstion that doens't make a like of got dang sense. And eventual future playoff expansion that serves zero purpose aside from more money.

But yay, we can see every game.

I think most of us in the age bracket me and WG are remember the sweet spot of the mid/late 90s to early 2010s when we both had the money influx luxuries (more games on) and still had a more regional/local taste to the whole operation.

It is what it is, capitalism marches on.

I’m not worried about that.

I’ve always thought that the Saturday night Football games with Fowler/Herbie or McDonough/Blackledge felt like a completely separate thing than the trash noon games with Mowins and McElroy

Surely to God they roll out the red carpet. Otherwise they are asking to lose the battle of the Power-2 conferences
