Does the SEC want the Sooners?

With Boren's statements today, it sounds like there is some unrest in Sooner-land. As a Mizzou fan, I'm not sure I want them in this conference.
I like them right where they are, fading in the diminished B12. I like having the SEC brand to sell, and OU not having it.
Adding them to the West would probably involve shuffling Mizzou over the West too. I kind of like being in the East atm, but long term maybe that would be ok.
It would probably increase TV revenue for all teams, but not by much and would depend if/who they bring in as #16. I sure as #### don't want them if it means bringing along their little brother.
What say you?

Alabama vs. Oklahoma would bring some smashing ratings. LSU too.

I would welcome OU and especially Texas with open arms

Oklahoma brings no TVs to the table. That means more mouths to feed with no return on investment. The last round of realignment showed who is worth a shite in realignment and who is not. OU...NOT.
Edit: Hell, BYU is worth 3 times what OU is worth, just because of their nation-wide, multi-wife-wedding following. Realignment is about TV footprint.

It wouldn't help the SEC Network revenue with OK having < 4 million pop. It probably would break even there, but OU is a big national draw, so it would probably add a little to the T1 and T2 deals.

Only when contracts are renegotiated, but I agree...for now.
OU has been marginalized as frick since A&M and MIZZOU left. Their bread and butter doesn't work anymore. Their whole program DEPENDS on at least A&M being unable to recruit top talent in Texas.

Yeah, I could see the Aggies really blocking them due to the new recruiting edge.
Looks like OU is about as 'Southern' as Missouri, so I'm sure a lot of you would hate them in that respect:

Well that's just a dumb thing to say.
They have fans nationwide.

From an Arkansas POV, I agree with you and think we benefit from OU being in the B12. The SEC, however, would love to have OU or we wouldn't have already tried to get them to join. The problem is that they'll always be attached at the hip to UT, which is probably smart for them.
It's been a long time since Arkansas and OU were in the same conference, and despite that I'd personally vote against it, I have to admit that I'd enjoy playing them.

HELL no. Go to UVA with a blank check and ask "What's your price?"

At some point, the SEC might take Texas and Oklahoma. I'm sure they would take Texas period if they agreed to join on our terms(equal revenue per school). They would take UNC and UVA as well and maybe VA Tech and NC State. I don't think OU could get in without Texas. Texas is so delusional they lost their chance at the PAC 12 because of the same revenue issue.
Nothing against Mizzou and TAM because they are competitive, but I was happy with 12 teams and 14 is livable. Hell 16 teams is getting crazy unless there is a pod system or something.

I just don't see Texas joining, unless they're given the seat at the head of the table, which hopefully will never happen. I think they'd rather go independent like Notre Dame, then have to look at their fellow conference members eye-to-eye.

Texas would be ok with being equal with the big athletic programs like Florida, Georgia, LSU, Bama etc. It's when you make the on the same playing field money wise as the Mississippi schools, Vandy so on they'll get pissy too bad that's how we do things around here and it has elavated everyone's AD for it.

Are you kidding?
The SEC would add #15 tomorrow if it could land Oklahoma.

Oklahoma has every reason in the world to want to be in the SEC and the SEC has zero reasons to want Oklahoma. frick em.

I am happy to have Mizzou, but Texas A&M was the home run pick up from the Big 12. They can keep the rest. Oklahoma should probably look into the Pac-12. If the SEC wants to expand again, they need to focus on Virginia and North Carolina.

No. Virginia and North Carolina are what's missing.

Ratings are nice, but the big money comes with SEC Network TV households at the in-state rates.
Virginia / North Carolina >>>>>>>>> Oklahoma.
Oklahoma supported Texas every step of the way in destroying the XII.
Let them lie in the bed of shite they helped facilitate.
